The Blu-ray edition of WWE Money in the Bank 2011 has disappeared from our WWE Home Video schedule (working closely with the official source). We can’t confirm what that means but it certainly suggests it may have been cancelled. Retail sites however still have it listed to buy as of today.
Perhaps related, Amazon have alerted people who have pre-ordered Capitol Punishment 2011 on Blu-ray that it will not be released until August 16th, a month later than expected. This may be of significance since August 16th is scheduled date of Money in the Bank’s release.
Blu-ray editions of WWE Capitol Punishment 2011 and SummerSlam 2011 remain listed on our schedule for North America, so look to be going ahead as normal.
Other upcoming Blu-rays are Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century, OMG! The Top 50 Incidents In WWE History and Randy Orton: The Evolution of a Predator – all still scheduled.
Congratulations to the winners of our last giveaway for a Royal Rumble 2011 Blu-ray and Hell in a Cell 2010 DVDs: @TheERJ, @Falland and @Bainesy_10 on Twitter.
There will be no giveaway this week whilst we send out all past winner’s prizes, but check back next Saturday for a new one which will include 6 WWE DVDs up for grabs!
I think Blu-ray hasn’t really taken off yet and it may be a while before it does (it took DVDs a while to take off plus WWE eventually stopped doing VHS altogether a few years after DVDs were introduced). Also I don’t think people realise the advantages that Blu-ray has over DVD, it’s not just about a better picture but Blu-rays last longer, Blu-rays are anti-scratch (what I mean by that is it doesn’t get sctrached as it’s playing or if you drop it unlike DVDs, Blu-rays can be scratched but only if you put enough pressure on it) and they are easier to clean as well. From a money stand point it does cost a lot to produce just the master copy of the Blu-ray plus the covers, the cases and the number of copies you produce for the release so if it doesn’t sell well then you end up losing a lot of money.
i dont think they will cancel it
6 WWE DVD’s Up for grabs You Say! I can’t miss this 🙂
Capitol Punishment is still listed for July 26 release in Canada on Amazon.ca, HMV.ca and CDPlus.com. But of course that will likely change since Blu-rays in Canada come from the US and they just add a Canadian rating on the back.
But i could see them trying out releasing Capitol Punishment and Money in the Bank in one Blu-ray release…sounds plausible.
Yes both are on Amazon to be released on the same date right now like I wrote in the article. Usually changes in the schedule we use are reflected on retail sites like Amazon at a later date, so MITB might be gone. Just waiting to see what happens.
they both listed on amazon to pre order… for the 16th August???
Since they tried out BD/DVD combos then pulled out, and there’s some doubt about the demand for Blu-ray, I just could imagine them trying out 2 PPVs in one set. The 2-disc Capitol Punishment release is rather random when they are all single disc now. Left me wondering why they would do that for CP and not SummerSlam. I guess we shall see.
i doubt that brandon, i think it will appear again
Sounds plausible Brandon.
Since Capitol Punishment is supposed to be two discs, is it possible it and Money in the Bank may be released together as one release?
