We are just a few days away from the second volume of ECW Unreleased hitting the shelves, so for the 27th edition of Fantasy Concept, why don’t we see at how a WCW Unreleased might look?
The set would feature matches from World Championship Wrestling (between November 1988 and March 2001) which have yet to be released on DVD or Blu-ray. Following the same format of ECW Unreleased the set would feature matches interspersed with introductions and stories from “Nature Boy” Ric Flair who would be an ideal host
Like a phoenix WCW rose from the ashes of Jim Crockett Promotions to become a railings juggernaut against WWE during the Monday Night Wars of the late 1990s. WCW Unreleased Vol. 1 features some of the most recognizable stars from World Championship Wrestling, including; Ric Flair, Sting, Hollywood Hogan, Macho Man Randy Savage, Ricky Steamboat, Diamond Dallas Page and so many, many more.
Hosted by WCW icon the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair this home video collects some of the most amazing and forgotten matches in WCW history – all of which have never been released… until now!

Would this set interest you? It’s great to hear your feedback, so please use the comments section below or tweet me @_MarkD_
FYI, this is still awesome.
Please God no Dean Malenko. He was the most over-rated bore down of all time. So fluid like a ballerina.
One match I’d like to see released sometime is Gordy and Williams vs. Steiners at COTC XX. Tag-Team wrestling at its finest. =)
And Terry Funk vs. Ricky Steamboat from Clash of the Champions VII. Even though it was released in the USA on the Legends of Wrestling set, it needs to be on a set soon for people in Europe =)
This would be an awesome set. WWE, take notice of these fantasy concepts, these concept DVDs are the kind we are looking for, at least us hardcore collectors anyway.
Savage vs hogan from Halloween havoc 96
Meng vs Goldberg from Nitro
Savage vs Mr Wonderful 1995
Bret Hart vs Booker T from Bash At The Beach 1998
Savage/Hogan vs Dungeon Of Doom from Uncensored 1995
And a must have is Jerry Flynn vs Mike Enos from Thunder.. Absolute mat classic
DDP Vs Scott Steiner at Greed the last match on the last WCW PPV it was real good as far as I can remember! Been looking for them to put that match out since it was never released on VHS and is a classic! I know this is Fantasy Concept but glad I’m not the only one to remember it 🙂
So much stuff included on my wishlist here, well done Mark. Probably my favorite fantasy concept since Flair or Halloween Havoc. Was pumped to see the Marietta Massacre on here!
I think they could do a separate DVD on Memphis and Lawler. Memphis was so unique they could easily fill a DVD on its own with. Documentary and some matches. But if wwe is worried about ppl buying it then bundling it up w lawler would be a no brainier.
Wwe needs the Memphis tapes.
Lawler needs a DVD set done on him. I’m shocked he has not had one done already. Him And the Million dollar man both
dvds wwe needs to make:
best of jim crockett/ mid atlantic
wcw unreleased vols.
jerry lawler and memphis wrestling ( a doc on memphis wrestling and jerry lawler)
I completely agree!
i think a wcw dvd that had matches from odd ppvs, sat night, and thunder would be money
Savage v Hollywood from Halloween Havoc 96 > Madness v Hollywood from Uncensored 98
Amazing, amazing set. Hollywood Blondes match!!! Yes make this set WWE!!! If they did volume 2, I’d like to see Ric Flair vs. “Flyin” Brian Pillman =) I actually thought they should have done a Unreleased WCW set after the Unreleased ECW set last year. This is just great. I would buy this for sure =) Good job =)
Sorry I mis-read Pillman vs. Flair from this set. But I’d like a volume 2 all the same =)
They actually had another good match in 1991 on the World Championship Wrestling program.
Both of these matches really need to be released at some point. An Unreleased Flair collection or Unreleased WCW set would be ideal spots. If they ever decided to make an expanded Pillman set, I could see both of these making that set as they were easily among his best matches.
Would love to see more matches for guys like La Parka, Psychosis, Ultimo Dragon and Jushin Liger on a volume 2
BTW, this is a rather obscure bit of trivia, but Booker T was actually known as just “Booker” during this period because he lost a match to Ahmed Johnson (known as “Big T”) for the rights to the letter T, so he was just known as Booker for a while. Seriously.
Love the two Spring Stampede 99 matches on here. We already had one from that show last year (on Top 50 Finishers) and one just announced for Goldberg: Ultimate Collection
I like disc 1, but I really don’t like disc 2. I especially like seeing the Saturday Night and Worldwide classics. Hopefully they’ll be on a future WWE release and hopefully WWE makes a collection with this type of theme. If they do, I’d like to see some unreleased matches from the following events, not to mention more TV classics from such shows as Saturday Night, World Wide, Pro and Main Event:
-Clash September 1989
-Starrcade 1989
-Halloween Havoc 1990
-Clash November 1990
-SuperBrawl 1, 4
-Slamboree 1994
-Bash 1995
-Halloween Havoc 1995
-World War 3 1995
-Slamboree 1997
-Halloween Havoc 1997
-SuperBrawl 9
-Uncensored 1999
isn’t the Fall Brawl 2000 match between Steiner vs. Goldberg on the upcoming Goldberg dvd? i’d throw in the cage match they had on Nitro the next day on this set and replace the David Arquette match with the triple threat world title match on Nitro between Mike Awesome, Scott Steiner and Booker T.
Other than that, thats quite an impressive match listing here.
A best of spring stampede would be great I always thought that was the best wcw ppv.
No thanks. There were only five Spring Stampede events and much of the finest moments have already been released. It would be a huge mistake to dedicate a release to that event before releasing a set on:
-Saturday Night on TBS 1982-1996
-WorldWide
-Unreleased Halloween Havoc
-Unreleased Great American Bash
-Unreleased Starrcade
-Unreleased SuperBrawl
-Unreleased Slamboree
Yeah totally! For some reason the big ones ie Starrcade, Halloween Havoc never turned out as well as they could have
Needs Savage v Page Spring Stampede 97 & Savage vs Sting Spring Stampede 98
This is a great concept I can admit I am more of a JCP/WCW fan then a WWF/WWE fan
What about a complete anthology set of JCP up until the WCW Championship was invoked like starting around 83 up to nothing past GAB of when the WCW Championship was implemented
I would say a anthology set of its original entirety content from TV to PPV’s around $100-150
I’d buy this at almost any price! If all they’d release from now on would be NWA/WCW from June 1983 to June 1994, I’d buy everything. I liked a lot of the stuff that happened after this period as well, but I really feel as though WWE hasn’t done enough to use the 1983 to 1994 footage and I feel it’s easily the most unique and compelling stuff left in the vault.
These fantasy concept things are always fantastic.
Looks great! Hopefully it happens. Love that you put the Doom vs RNR match on there. That was excellent.
great job on this mark. volume 2 would have something to live up to
Would definitely buy this.
That’s awesome! WWE will screw this up and not release it. Instead we will get the best of WWE Home Video Repeats Vol. 1
Loving the concept Mark! Can’t wait to see if this one could hit the shelves next year! 🙂
When does this come out?
It is f***ing sad that they are still doing the fantasy concept crap giving people false hopes that it will be released and no fantasy concept set have actually been released
So stop with this f***ing fantasy concept shit!
So did we not get:
Attitude Era
Triple H Documentary
Best of Nitro 2
War Games
Bret Hart Unreleased
nWo
Mick Foley Documentary
ECW Unreleased Vol. 2 (also btw compare the match list on that vs. the actual)
All of which were Fantasy Concepts prior to being announced by WWE.
It isn’t a fantasy. I pre-ordered this already. It was a coincidence that Mark was correct on the listing.
John, shut up. If you don’t have an imagination, don’t b*tch at other people because they do. If you don’t like it, don’t click on it. Let us enjoy Mark’s hard work creating these. And a lot of these have become actual DVD’s.
I like how there’s an AJ Styles match on here. Helping WWE bury TNA? Lol
I hereby announce that I would like to challenge Mark to see who can make a better Fantasy Concept than the other. Whoever wins will get the job permanently. Just Kidding, I just want to do this challenge for fun, and I ask that Mark replies within 72 hours, and we will go over the rules for the challenge. Mark, reply within 72 hours, and we’ll talk about it.
I would love to see more, or at least some, matches from WCW Saturday Night and Thunder when WWE releases WCW themed sets. There have been some great matches on those shows I’m sure. Nice concept here too. Would purchase this in a second.
I would so buy this . the big selling point is the Cactus Jack vs Vader texas death match from Halloween Havoc. One of the most brutal matches ever.
Anything WCW once Ted Turner owned it is awesome. I’d like to see Sting & Ric Flair vs. Arn Anderson & Brian Pillman from Halloween Havoc 95 and Sting vs. Ric Flair from World War 3 95 as well.
31 flavors of awesome, throw in Main event of Uncensored ’97 & DDP vs Savage from Stampede & you have perfect set.
El Dandy makes an appearance in this set, it’s already worth my money. Great job Mark.
I don’t collect BR because I don’t have a BR player and the cost of sets increase but I would probably end up buying the DVD and BR versions of this set. Damn good job Mark. I’m a huge WCW fan, grew up watching it instead of WWF and I would salivate over this set.
Sting/Flair actually still have matches that are unreleased???? really?? Hard to believe. Thanks for putting the time into this. I’ve said it before, WWE does listen to us. If we keep making our voices heard we can get this stuff released. Me personally, I was always hoping for a RIP tribute set. Obviously we’ve lost tons of wrestlers over the years and I think you should have a set that dedicates about 5 minutes to each person or the main names like Guerrero and Davey Boy Smith. All of these years later I’m still in shock over people like Miss Elizabeth. Showing their faces before Raw then forgetting about them does not do their careers justice.
There certainly are Unreleased Flair/Sting matches still, the one here is really good it’s about 40 minutes long. Take a look and see what you think, WWE uploaded it to their website recently: http://www.wwe.com/videos/sting-vs-ric-flair-wcw-world-heavyweight-championship-wcw-saturday-night-august-26118561
Off the top of my head:
2 matches on NWA Pro in early ’88, one in Jan, the other in Feb I think
Nitro the following night after Havoc ’95 when Flair turned
WWIII ’95
Sting vs Flair vs Flair Starrcade ’95
Starrcade ’90 (Black Scorpion fiasco)
Nitro ’99
*****Sting vs Flair vs LUGER from SC ’95 (my bad)
Excellent stuff. But leave off Age in the Cage II for Hogan vs. Warrior for a truly epic lulz.
I’ve been saying for sometime “WCW Unreleased” is the way to go now for WCW footage. There isn’t enough for another clash and outside of MAYBE “Best of WCW Saturday Night” just go with “WCW Unreleased”. Think of those old worldwide tapings that had Flair v. Regal for 5 minutes each week for example.
I’d buy this……….BUT b**** that 2 Cold vs. Barry from the Clash wasn’t on it. 🙂
Wow. Looks fantastic. 🙂
