WWE DVDs for Year’s End – King of the Ring, PPV Matches, Anthology?

September 10, 2011 by Daniel Bee

According to the Australian WWE DVD distributor they have it confirmed that the following titles are upcoming for release. Keep in mind that typically the AUS release dates are about a month or two later than those of the US home market.

November: Ladder Match 2: Crash & Burn, Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart, Hell in A Cell and Night of Champions.

December: Vengeance, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Reunion (John Cena movie) and WrestleMania Anthology.

January: Best of King of the Ring, Survivor Series and Best PPV Matches of 2011.

What we can take from this is that the next WWE DVDs incoming after the Austin set are The Reunion, King of the Ring and Best PPV Matches, likely released to North America before the end of the year. Confirmation is forthcoming and we’ll let you know soon.

Concerning the WrestleMania Anthology listing, the distributor say this is a re-release due to popular demand, in separate volumes. It is our understanding that this is exclusive to Australia. Once again, we’ll let you know as soon as possible if WWE has it planned in other regions too.

The next WWE DVD to be released is SummerSlam 2011, which hits stores in the United States this coming Tuesday. WWEShop has this package available – click the image to order yours.

I want to see a WWE Legends of Wrestling roundtable Anthology very badly. Someone needs to make that happen!

  3. Anonymous says:

I can´t wait for the King of the Ring dvd set!

  4. Kub says:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Release WrestleMania Anthology Volume V. So I can have 21-XXV in my box set

  5. Steven says:

What’s going to be on the King of the Ring dvd, the tournament or matches from the PPV that once was or what?

  6. LP1 says:

@SRB, the WrestleMania Anthology is only being re-released in Australia. Not the whole world. If there’s a demand there for the individual volumes then it’s better for the Australian fans to be able to pick and choose which volumes they want in stores. I can’t see how that’s anything to get upset about since it has zero effect on the US or the rest of the world.

@Rocko, Benoit has nothing to do with them not releasing a King Of The Ring Anthology. Benoit was included on the SummerSlam Anthology and Elimination Chamber Anthology which were both released long after his death. The Benoit rule is if it’s part of an Anthology then his matches will be included. If it’s a “best of” compilation set then his matches won’t be included.

  7. Dave says:

Looks like definitely the Best PPV matches will include CM Punk vs. Cena from MITB and Summerslam. Atleast we would be able to own those on Blu-ray.

  8. steven says:

It appears no blu-ray for survivor series, but a blu-ray version of best of kotr.

  9. Bryan says:

steven I can’t find the link for the Best PPV matches can you post it?

  10. tickc317 says:

I rather they release a anthology of kort. Oh well…

  11. steven says:

Amazon.com now has the best of kotr set, surivor series 2011, and best of 2011 ppv matches up for pre-order.

  12. Dave says:

Sucks that WWE will not be releasing the remaining Survivor Series sets. I just got the tagged classics for 97/98 and 99/00 just to complete it. If you have a region free player, might as well just import them from the UK. Same deal with King of the Ring.

  13. SRB says:

To tell you the truth the complaints are all valid. Everything lately from half released anthologies, to content, to not filling up the discs and to the no Benoit crap is really a joke. Im not too sure whose seeing the beginnings and ends of these DVDs but theyre really not great. I do, however recommend highly the Randy Orton set. It’s a very god release but still falls very short of disc time and content

  14. Daniel Bee says:

Best of Smackdown may be released early 2012.

  15. straightedge47 says:

Have they stopped making those best of Smackdown DVDs? Like this years version of the 2009-2010 season set?

  16. John Peterson says:

I guess the rest of the Survivor Series Anthology will never see the light of day.I really would to have 97,98,and 99,even though 98 and 99 will be edited as hell.the kotr set should be cool.

I was also lucky to find a used copy of Judgment Day 02 at f.y.e for only 8.99

  17. Bryan says:

at first I was excited I saw Survivor Series and thought they were gonna do the rest of the Anthology (sigh) but they just mean the 2011 Survivor Series. Well this year is the 25th Annual so maybe next year they can release 3 volumes of the Anthology (yeah right)

  18. Rocko says:

They can’t really do a full anthology because of their no Benoit policy. Besides, not every match in every tournament has been a winner. If they briefly cover every tournament and include the best matches from each (save for the ones they won’t include for reasons I mentioned) it should be a pretty solid set.

I just hope they actually attempt to fill the damn discs this time around. I’m sick of them releasing 3 disc sets with only 7.5 hours worth of runtime when they could get up to 9.

  19. Steiner8Burgers says:

That’s STUPID, why release the best KOTR matches? we need the ENTIRE ANTHOLOGY SET….Bullshit

  20. Simon says:

No chance they’ll feature all three Bret matches from ’93. I’d imagine we’ll get the final from each year, with a few title matches dotted around as appropriate. Shame that the 1998-2001 footage will be raped, as usual.

  21. SRB says:

Wrestlemania re-release??? What a waste. Pack up the rest of those what obviously are lost Survivor Series PPVs and release that as an anthology. Youre telling me whats extremely easy to find is in high demand and thats why it’s being released again? I just saw a WM Anthology go on Ebay for about $200 signed by Vince himself. That’s cheap to say the least! Give me a Great American Bash Anthology, Starrcade Anthology, Halloween Havoc Anthology, or the rest of Survivor Series, but don’t release something most of us already have. And I agree, I want that Million Dollar Man set now. Long overdue.

  22. Lemo says:

They’d better include the 3 Bret’s KOTR from 1993. Also Owen vs 123 Kid from 1994 is a must.

  23. Daniel Bee says:

No confirmation Million Dollar Man was cancelled. We’ll know more soon.

  24. Anonymous says:

i think it’s disapointing that the million dollar man dvd has been cancelled. i was looking forward to that one all year.
