Something unusual is happening on Silvervision UK’s website.
It appears both The True Story of WrestleMania DVD/Blu-ray and Hart & Soul: The Hart Family Anthology DVD have been taken down. Shaun Blackford spotted this today.
WrestleMania Story was only released to the UK last week. When asked on Facebook why it was taken down, Silvervision responded that WWE requested them to. No other details were given and they plan to update on it next week.
Immediately what comes to mind is last year’s lawsuit filed by Martha Hart, widow of Owen Hart, against the WWE for their continued usage of Owen’s name and likeness (read more). That was seemingly all sparked off by the release of the Hart & Soul DVD.
This is purely speculation at the moment, since Owen was shown minimally in WrestleMania Story and there were none of his matches included. He was heavily featured in Hart & Soul however.
The two DVDs remain listed on WWEShop for North America. The only change we can see is they are gone from Silvervision, who are the official distributor of WWE DVDs in Europe. Whatever the reasons turn out to be we’ll let you know as soon as we hear.
I’m already glad that I have hart&soul and true story of mania in my collection
I think Bret should have the final say on whether Owen’s matches should be or not be on DVD.
We all should let Martha do what she wants, unfortunately though as a fan it seems she is just being selfish, Bret knew how proud Owen was of his legacy and that fans should be able to celebrate his life with DVD’s for him and a HOF induction, both I guarantee will happen one day, just probably not soon.
if this is true, martha hart is not helping her late husbands legacy. She is doing nothing but hurting it. Period. Owen deserves better than that. His wife is making him ouot to almost never exist. Sad your own family would do that to you.
i don’t that this flair, i understand where the coming from but i feel that the wwe are using hes name flairing and using it for they gain i got the hard and soul dvd and they did a good job with it
They create there own problems
These titles are back on http://www.silvervision.co.uk website so everything s fine in paradise!
It seems to me that all the titles are linked either by the 90s (and so by default the Attitude Era) or by old school “wrestling” before the whole PG Entertainment Era we’re stuck in now. They probably wanted to redistribute the DVDs with the W word dubbed out.
Also can we at least assume that these sets are still available in the shops?
What does it matter. Owen was a big part of the Hart Foundation success in the late nineties…Get over it Martha…you are just trying to run down the Hart name…obviously you don’t know what kind of tradition that name carries…
Looks like a false alarm, all back up I think. Silvervision did say WWE told them to remove the titles so had to be something. Sorry if this article misled at all but I did state “speculation” a few times 🙂 Silvervision aren’t giving answers so had to be done…
They are back up now.
It wont be the logo because they have removed ones that dont feature the logo at all. Its intriguing. Might have to give Poirot a call.
My local branch of Computer Exchange, which has loads of second hand DVD’s, has a load of the Hart & Soul DVD’s for sale for £25 each. It’s strange because they all seem to be brand new and much more expensive than their other DVD’s.
If the problem is with the scratch logo, why haven’t they been pulled in the US?
Glad I pre-ordered the Wrestlemania Story Blu-ray, but it hasn’t arrived yet.
I have also noticed that the Road Warriors and Brian Pillman sets are gone, also the one disc Andre the Giant dvd is off too
Hart and Soul, I recently seen this set from 23 bucks to
45 Bucks between a month at HMV, I wouldn’t pay that price
for it thow, and the copy of the DVD Set isn’t that good because
it’s the only one left I think.
I am guessing it has something to do with the usage of the WWE Attitude logo 97-02. I noticed on the True Story Of Wrestlemania Blu Ray that the “scratched logo” wasn’t blurred out on some of the feature from Wrestlemania 2000.
SV just confirmed on Facebook the pulling of DVDs has noting to do with Owen Hart… the mystery continues…
Glad I pre-ordered my TSoWM blu-ray 😉
According to the silvervision facebook page it has nothing to do with owen hart, so i have no idea what the reasoning behind this is
The intercontinental championship DVD is not on there and Owen isnt even on that one, hence I rule that this is not the reason.
Actually there are quite a few missing. WWE championship is off too. There must be another reason for this. Owen Hart isnt even on the Wrestlemania DVD and the WWE Champiosnhip DVD is not listed either. This is older than the Rock, Edge and Kane DVDs that all have Owen on and are still listed. It must be a different issue and hopefully temporary.
Stars of the 90s seems to be missing too. I’m so glad I got Hart and Soul through the post from silvervision today. Ordered a couple of days ago.
Strange that they haven’t been removed from us sites, if there was a issue I would have thought they would have gone there first. Going to have to keep an eye on this. Only watched the hart and soul video this week.
Lucky for me, that my copy of The True Story of WrestleMania blu-ray was shipped by Silvervision last week. 🙂
Better pick up those DVD’s now before there gone. I really need to get the Hart & Soul DVD still. Been meaning to get it for quite some time. I wonder why the DVD’s are only removed in the UK though? Hmm…
Its so sad that Martha wants to bury the memory of Owen Hart..its so sad..
stupid martha. when the fudge am i going to get the true story of wrestlemania now!!!!!!1111
This is definatley not good.
Update: Raw “The Beginning” DVD also gone from Silvervision’s site, which had Owen Hart matches included and was released shortly after the lawsuit was filed.
