WWE Filming ‘Nostalgic’ 2017 DVD With Mick Foley? No Benoit Edits in ‘The True Story of Royal Rumble’

WWE 2017 Mick Foley DVD - Commissioner Foley with Enzo Amore & Big Cass

There’s about to be another new addition to the 2017 WWE Home Video schedule.

It looks like WWE have begun the filming of another WWE DVD project for next year — this one involving Mick Foley — as hinted at by the man himself over the weekend. Foley gave a first look at a segment that’s planned for it, which you can check out above and below.

The throwback sees the RAW General Manager reprise his former on-screen authoritative role of WWF Commissioner from back in 2000/2001, complete with T-shirt, hammer and messy office!

And a couple of “Certified G’s” stop by to join in on the nostalgia trip – Enzo Amore and Big Cass.

So, what are they filming for? Historically there’s always been a couple of years between volumes of the “Attitude Era” Home Video series – we can probably rule that out since we just got the third Attitude DVD in August, so an early speculation is that this might be a new Mick Foley DVD.

It’s unknown for now, but stay locked to WrestlingDVDNetwork.com for confirmation.

We noted how the new “True Story of Royal Rumble” DVD/Blu-ray (out next month) is expected to have a Chris Benoit sighting with the inclusion of the entire 2007 Royal Rumble match.

Regarding any edits present, WWE Home Video UK have stated that there are no noticeable adjustments made to Benoit’s entrance, commentary about him, or his involvement in the Rumble.

Despite this inclusion, don’t hold out for any mention of Benoit in the documentary portion!

Well, at least that’s progress on WWE’s part to feature a Benoit match with no commentary edits because while they can’t remove his entrance in a Rumble match, they could’ve easily ruined it like the MITB set by silencing every bit of commentary uttering his name.

I get the feeling that ever since the Network, they are subtly trying to be more inclusive of him in their history now but without being too explicit or blatant about it, perhaps step by step. I’ve seen some photo galleries posted on WWE.com where you can clearly see him even if he’s not the focus. Which is one step forward because for years, the closest thing you’d get was his boot being seen at the edge of a picture of a Royal Rumble match or something like that.

  2. SCSA says:

I’m still upset that Benoit’s triple threat match wirh HBK n HHH from WM wasn’t included in the Mr Wrestlemania set, yet other Benoit matches are included in other sets & in the upcoming Royal Rumble History set

    • Jeff copeland says:

hes not really in the rumble set just 07 rumble it’s self thats it as far as benoit goes. he gets away with him being on the network. they just dvd wise only put him in sets like ladder match mitb chamber.

      • SCSA says:

Yeah but come on.. in the documentary going through every rumble (talk) they hav to mention the winner of the 2004 Rumble match!

        • Ruthless.Attitude.Eras.4Life says:

Not gonna happen.. if they sort of follow the same concept as with the “True story of Wrestlemania” Bluray, the XX was barely mentioned. Same will likely happen regarding the amazing 2004 RR event, one of my all time favorites. If anything, it will problaly be mentioned for the LMS match between HBK and HHH.

  3. Wwefan1990 says:

Maybe a wwe best of 2000 dvd that would be cool

  4. mememememe says:

    A 2000’s DVD would be pretty cool…

  5. Brad Attitude says:

I hope Foley doesn’t get another set. Didn’t they give him one fir the umpteenth time like 2-3 years ago?

    • Daniel Bee says:

It’ll be 4 years since the last one. Time flies!

      • RabidHeat says:

I love Mick, but I can’t see it being another Foley set. He’s had such definitive sets in the past that I don’t think anybody is clamouring for that, and aside from some GM stuff he hasn’t done anything significant for years. The only thing that would peak anybody’s interest is if WWE had somehow licensed some of his matches from the likes of IWA:Japan or FMW for the set, but I can’t see that happening.

  6. Ruthless.Attitude.Eras.4Life says:

Is there anything more of the Mick’ster himself that can be brought to the table regarding a new release on him? Would love it no matter what, but I actually think its rather a “Falls Count anywhere..” vol. 2 compilation…which would make this guy here a very happy man. 😉

    • Ruthless.Attitude.Eras.4Life says:

Regarding Foley’s tweet: it would fit in perfectly with the “Falls count anywhere” concept..it could be a hint to the RR 2000 street fight against Hunter..but now, I am actually thinking: instead of a Mick or Falls count anywhere vol. 2..could this be the first attempt to make a overview of the Ruthless Agression era?! Now..THAT would be something for sure.. 😉

      • Daniel Bee says:

Appreciate your ideas, but a Ruthless Aggression era DVD with Foley hosting from his Attitude era commish office? Come now 🙄
