  1. James says:

I am getting this DVD set. I like the listings for WCW and WWE. It’s a good thing that there is no Bret Hart match because one is already on the nwo revolution DVD

  2. Jay Karia says:

I can’t wait to buy this DVD.

  3. Ricardo Aguilera says:

Should have added vs Kevin Nash bash at the beach 2000 for Scott hall’s contract since he was a heel for a short time that would have been nice or vs Scott hall ladder match

  4. anant kaushik says:

goldberg is DEF grt wrestlers goldberg def lesner, flair, sting, hhh, bret, rock, hall he is very angry man he is no1

  5. GoGo Gadget says:

the only match that I missing on this dvd is the Armageddon match against kane and triple H

  6. Dbabe says:

same matches over and over again mannn come on , smh GOLDBERG VS CHRISTIAN WHAT THE F MANN THIS IS A RIP OFF

  7. rajesh says:

    GOLDBERG GOLDBERG GOLDBERG

  8. Mongoose Wizard says:

Now one more thing I’d love to see done on this set which is probably a long shot all his WCW matches with his WCW theme but knowing WWE they’ll probably put there music on it :/

  9. el stinko says:

holy cow look how many of these matches wcw gave away on nitro.

    • Anonymous says:

It’s also no coincidence that the last Nitro match listed (April 1999- Flair v. Goldberg v. DDP v. Hogan) was the last time WCW looked like true competitors to the WWE.

WCW started to decline in May 1999. Things picked up in September 1999 when Bischoff got fired and they had a good couple of months (September and October). When Russo and Ferrera came in late October 1999, things took another turn for the worse before briefly picking up again with some entertaining stuff from February 2000 through to June 2000. Come July 2000, the company went into a downward spiral they never recovered from and eventually shut down in March 2001.

  10. Brian says:

I used to watch the wild feeds of Nitro on C-Band satellite dish. They would show the dark matches and I had a chance to see Goldberg very early in his career. This may have been before he even had a TV match. The crowd was going nuts for the guy – and he was an unknown. It would have been stellar to have this match or any of his other unaired matches.

  11. Mr Z says:

Wow, never thought I’d see a Steve “Mongo” McMichael singles match on somebody’s ‘Best of’ set. Was there not enough room for Roadblock or Big Rick Fuller?

  12. Bill says:

Oh god the WM 20 match, lord help us

  13. Anonymous says:

This is about as good as a Goldberg set as we could have expected. I’m thrilled that the March and April 1999 Nitro matches are on this set. On the flip side, there really is far too much WWE content on this. Case in point: The first 3 1/2 years of his career take up only two DVDs, while the entire third disc is devoted to his single year in the WWE. Furthermore, the WWE Goldberg isn’t the Goldberg that his fans want to see. They really should have pulled some of them out there to make room for such matches as:
    10/12/98 Nitro vs. The Giant
1/17/99 Souled Out vs. Scott Hall
1/18/99 Nitro vs. Scott Hall vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
    5/9/99 Slamboree vs. Sting
    10/18/99 Nitro vs. Lex Luger
    12/6/99 Nitro vs. Jeff Jarrett
    7/24/00 Nitro vs. Booker T

Nevertheless, this release could have really gone either way. I’m happy they’ve done a pretty good job here and included all of the main Goldberg moments. This will be a first day buy for me and, of the ones we have details for, likely one of the top 5 releases of the year.

    • Jersey Joe says:

I realize this post is 3 years old, but I disagree. I think Disc 1 was a fair representation of the Streak, Disc 2 his later WCW career, and Disc 3 was interesting because I didn’t know much about his WWE Run, it seemed like there was a little more variety on the WWE disc because he had to rise to the standards of WWE and couldn’t just have squash matches. I thought the Elimination Chamber (the way they played up Goldberg as a caged animal, building suspense to when he was released, spearing Jericho through the glass, Triple H hiding and Goldberg smashing the glass) and match against Triple H in particular was as good as any WCW match. And Goldberg vs Rock is something I didn’t even know happened, but you have to have that. The Christian match was interesting to see him in a cage match (variety), and the Jericho was interesting because he and Jericho had real life heat, and because Jericho had tried to start a feud and mock him in WCW in attempt to move up the ranks, but nobody believed in him, including Goldberg, so it was cool to see them all eat crow when he (and Benoit, Malenko, Saturn, Eddie Guerrero, Mysterio, Kidman, Big Show) proved he had what it took to draw crowds, I hope Bischoff/Nash/Hogan felt like morons for that. The Wrestlemania match wasn’t very good, but essential for a Goldberg collection as his first Wrestlemania match and last match in his initial WWE run. They kinda screwed the pooch on the Batista match, that should’ve been epic.

Point being, I think they got it exactly right the way they structured the three discs. Some of those matches you listed werent very good or important to his career. The Sting Slamboree match was pretty unremarkable (except Goldberg catching Sting in the air during his attempted Stinger Splash and slamming him into the mat) and they already have two Sting matches, the first and last. The Scott Hall ladder match was pretty bad, I think Hall thought he was king of the ladder match because of his epic Michaels match, but then got in the ring and realized Michaels carried that match, and he didn’t know what to do with that ladder and Goldberg had no idea what to do. The Giant match would have fit because of how crazy the crowd was and the way they popped when he jackhammered Giant.

Another they should have added because it had an interesting story and fun to watch, was Goldberg vs Regal. People say that Regal was stiff and made Goldberg look terrible, but I disagree. To me, it looked like just what the announcers sold it as, Goldberg having to go against a technical master and having to adapt on the fly, powering out of many of Regal’s holds.

Maybe they could’ve included the Goldberg vs Hart match as well.

  14. NickP says:

No respect for Gillberg on this set huh? C’mon, he practically made Goldbergs career.

  15. Spritz1999 says:

Then again, I am mostly buying it just to see him and Brock get booed all the way through the WrestleMania XX match again! Lol. 🙂

    • Timothy Thorpe says:

Have you ever noticed that most of the matches Steve Austin refs are total stinkers otherwise?

  16. Spritz1999 says:

As much as I hate Goldberg and think he is the most Overrated superstar of all-time! This still looks like a good set with some good matches, with some better wrestlers! 😉 Getting it!

  17. SRB says:

This is a collection I can do without

  18. miz4life says:

Other than the missing battle royal from road wild ’98 & his match with Luger @ starrcade 2000 I am so buying this.

  19. warresg says:

this is one collection i can do without

  20. SRB says:

I hope they show the match where Goldberg came out from the janitor’s closet

    http://agwwfboard.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=General&action=print&thread=483

  21. Mr Disc says:

This is one superstar set that i can do without. Never liked Goldberg and never will.

  22. Mr Disc says:

I loved how much they edited the Goldberg v Lesnar match on the Wrestlemania 20 DVD to mute the crowd telling them bad the match was. When you watched it live the crowd chanted boring almost thru the whole match it was horrible. The match that everyone thought would be epic turned out to be the worst match either guy had.

  23. handjeep says:

    Goldberg zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I’m surprised that anyone still cares about Goldberg.

  24. Mongoose Wizard says:

Oh and idk if anyone else have said this match as a Blu Ray exclusive Vs Perry Saturn @ Spring Stampede 🙂

  25. Ryan says:

I see a lot of repeats here. The streak was 17-something matches. You’d think we could get more than 12 of them. And out of all his WWE PPV matches on here, the only ones I can’t complain about are BB, Unforgiven, & SurvSer. Why put the chamber on here? He was destroyed by Evolution. Why not put some more Raw matches on here? I know there was one against HBK.

  26. thejmp187 says:

OMG its f***ing loaded!!! Both sid matches both DDP matches woow so much here I love it

  27. mark foster says:

The goldberg set is going to be great. For all of you who forgot how great and for you who didnt get to see what a great wrestler he was.Still hopeing for a andre the giant and vader set

    • erikgnotloggedin says:

WWE proposed “Best of the Giants” on a survey a while back. I think it could be good. Have the old school guys with a special emphasis on Andre on disc one, the more agile performers of the 90s i.e. Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Yokozuna, Earthquake, Big Bossman, etc, and then disc three could have the modern day giants ie Kane, Big Show, Khali, etc.

  28. Erik G. says:

I dislike having the Halloween Havoc 99 stuff on there. I feel like it’s just an attempt to bury a TNA performer rather than show the best Goldberg has to offer. It was a horrible main event for a PPV, too. Please no Russo/Ferrera stuff on the blu-ray exclusives.

  29. ZJ says:

No documentary?! Lame…Why put his match with Brock on?

    • erikgnotloggedin says:

I’m hoping for a documentary in a few years with the matches they missed. This could have a good chance of happening if Goldberg does come back to face Ryback. Probably won’t happen but we’ll see.

    • AJ says:

Goldberg doesn’t warrant a doc. He had a six year career and showed zero passion for the business. The Brock match, despite how terrible it was, is Goldberg’s last match. Kind of essential in telling the story of his career.

  30. Domenic Valente says:

I can’t believe the match that made Goldberg into the Superstar he became, the squash match, isn’t represented. There should be a montage of his matches against Jerry Flynn, his greatest opponent, that vaulted him to the next level.

  31. Erik G. says:

I hope this has store exclusive DVD matches like Best of Nitro Volume 2 did in addition to whatever the blu-ray has.

  32. Quick Draw says:

I like the match listing up until halloween havoc 1998 but a little skeptical of the matches from thereon. i haven’t seen a lot of the matches between 1999 – 2003 (except a few of the 2003 ppv matches) so i think i’ll wait it out a bit and check out the review in case i decide to pick it up …

i really hope his wwe music isn’t dubbed over his wcw music otherwise i may as well forget about the entire set then. another thing i wouldn’t mind seeing is him discussing his character name, catchphrase (who’s next?), finishing moves and the evolution of his character which was a small extra on The Rise and Fall of WCW. it would make sense if they threw that on this dvd set.

    • Erik G. says:

Me too. I thought they should have focused more on the streak and not the blah feuds with Sid, Luger, Kronik, etc. I can understand breaking up the monotony with a no DQ match and a handicap match, but the streak is really why Goldberg was such a big deal. The listings so far seem to just gloss over this fact.

  33. Domenic says:

  35. Rip Savage says:

Why would I invest in this DVD set? The individual (not wrestler or superstar) was brought in to WCW to get ratings, it fail, he failed and he was one of the many reasons on the decline and failure of WCW!

    • Eric says:

I don’t think Goldberg had anything to do with why they failed. They failed because they dumped tons of money into building a roster of old guys. They loaded their contracts with huge guaranteed money to lure them away from WWE. On the NWO DVD, Nash said he did not really want to leave WWE, but the money WCW offered him was huge. WWE was not going to give him guaranteed anything. WCW also had terrible booking. They took the NWO, which was great for about 2 years, and turned it into garbage. They ran it into the ground by adding a bunch of nobodies and splitting the faction. Its like the NWO was their one great idea and they could not let it go when it had run its course. They did the same thing with the 4 Horsemen. Maybe you don’t think Goldberg could wrestle, but Goldberg is one of the few things WCW did right. He was a home grown star. He was a huge star in WCW.

    • Erik G. says:

Goldberg only appeared for a few minutes out of a 2-3 hour show and rarely did interviews. The ratings measure the entire show.

    • Shane C. MOntgomery says:

Goldberg actually prolonged the life of WCW, but he could not keep it going alone.

  36. Marcio says:

Damn! No hbk vs razor ladder match from Mania 10 soo dissapointed!

    • Steve says:

HAHAHAHAHA! It will probably be a BLU Ray exclusive along with Hell in a Cell 1998 Mankind vs. Taker

      • Anonymous says:

And let’s not forget about the obligatory Bret Hart and Eddie Guerrero matches. Surely Hart vs. Mr. Perfect from Summerslam 1991 will be on this set somewhere.

        • SRB says:

Taker/Mankind will have alternate commentary, so it’s fine. And HBK/Hall will also have alternate commentary from Hurricane Helms.

  37. Tony Kegger says:

I’d get it just for the Goldberg vs. Rock match.

  38. Steven Jackson says:

I didn’t have high expectations when this set was announced and I have to say that I still am very bemused and disappointed by this set. Goldberg had some great matches in WCW, both squashes and proper matches, but this to me seems nothing more than a cheap cash in by WWE. They could have really gone to town on this to make it a worthwhile set and could have even made a 60 minute documentary, like NWO: Revolution from last year. But this just seems a bit ludicrous on WWE’s part. I bizarre release which I feel no need to watch, which is a shame as back in the late 90’s I was a huge Goldberg fan. I was even a fan of his feud with HHH, it was just a shame there matches stunk.

  39. Wonderllama says:

I think a great Blu-Ray extra would be a video clip of Goldberg’s greatest spears, which was easily his coolest move

  40. Eric says:

That looks like every meaningful match Goldberg was in. I watched Raw over Nitro. I haven’t seen most of those WCW matches. I am very excited to get this DVD

  41. alvaro says:

It will be kind of gay to watch too many goldberg. weird. i dont like a wrestler set. just mixed dvds dont focus on one wrestler unless if its trish stratus lol.

    • SRB says:

I agree Alvarados Blasados. 2 hours of Goldberg = homosexual. 1 hour of Goldberg = guys just hanging out. No problem.

  42. Erik G. says:

I wonder if any of the other matches vs The Giant (Big Show) will be on here. He had two more on Nitro, one in August 1998 and another in October. I know one of those was the first time he jackhammered Giant and the fans went crazy. If Sid can be on here twice why can’t Giant especially since he is in WWE currently.

  43. Derek says:

Sorry I can’t imagine sitting down and trying to watch 3 discs full of Goldberg matches…it would get real old real fast.

    • Erik G. says:

That’s why I was saying to have the battle royal, cage match, tag match, etc…it breaks up the monotony…fatal four way is a nice start

  44. Asaf says:

I hope WWE includes his real music.

    • Erik G. says:

Yes!! Please WWE put in the effort here.

    • King Shabazz says:

I’ve heard about this, but i have not heard a difference in the music (as far as the wwe pay per view dvds go). Is the WWE fake music so similar to Goldberg’s original music that I didn’t catch the difference? Someone let me know. Thanks.

      • Erik G. says:

It is very similar but not exactly the same. It’s understandable that you didn’t notice.

        • Peach says:

“It is very similar but not exactly the same. It’s understandable that you didn’t notice.” But the original better be here!!!! AGH!!!1

  45. Erik G. says:

Honestly, I’m kinda disappointed… I got most of what I want (and of course we still have the blu-ray exclusives) but I wanted more squashes from the streak. Those matches don’t take up much time and are exciting to watch. If you are a younger fan, you might not know why Goldberg was so popular and those matches are the reason why. The big gap between December 1997-April 1998 is also alarming. Then again, my hopes were so high I was bound to be disappointed. Hopefully we will get some more good stuff on the blu-ray. 30 matches is a lot and with the blu-ray who knows how many we will have. We might even break the record which is 42 matches from Raw: The Early Years although that was a four disc set.

For the blu-ray exclusives, I’d really like to see:

-Goldberg vs nWo vs nWo battle royal (this HAS to be on here! it breaks up the monotony of singles matches and shows Goldberg taking out the biggest two factions in WCW. I’d be shocked and angry if this is not an exclusive)
-one of the matches vs Saturn (Spring Stampede or Slamboree)
    -ladder match vs Scott Hall
-something to do with Bret Hart (they teamed and faced each other)
-cage match teaming with Hogan from Nitro in 1999
-teaming with Nash vs Hogan and Giant in August 1998(previous two would once again break up the monotony of singles matches)
-and of course a bunch of squashes including the infamous match vs Regal on Nitro

Overall I like it a lot. The only thing that bugs me is that Sid on here way too much. Should be more focus on 1998 which was the big year for WCW and Goldberg.

    • John says:

Boo hoo! Since you are disappointed with it, DON’T BUY IT!

      • wrestlingfan says:

So what are the thought police..

      • Erik G. says:

I am going to buy it and I do want it. I was just saying that my expectations were so high that it was inevitable that I’d be disappointed in a small way. It’s part of being human.

Could not agree with you more, I was hoping to see the match where he squashes the heck out of disco inferno and alex wright. Very well said

  46. NickP says:

I hope Goldberg vs the nWo from road wild 1998 is a bluray extra.. otherwise pretty good set

  47. wwefan says:

wow, what a collection, can’t wait to to get this dvd.

  48. King Shabazz says:

Good set list here…better than I thought. Not a big Goldberg fan, but a fan of many of the opponents listed here. They should have included his most controversial match, the match that ended the streak before it even began: vs. Hector Guerrero. Goldberg lost this one (his first match in wcw, a dark match at that-true story) Maybe it’ll be a blu-ray exclusive. Or maybe they are saving this one for the Hector Guerrero DVD set the wwe universe is salivating for! What? A Hector DVD is not in the works? Well, then, can we at least get a Chavo?

    • Erik G. says:

Goldberg did face Chavo once on Nitro. I’m surprised that it’s not on here just to bury TNA which WWE loves to do on these things.

      • King Shabazz says:

Poor Chavo. I thought if anyone could revolutionize the business, it would be him… well, him or Norman Smiley.

    • Anonymous says:

If it was a dark match from back then, it probably wasn’t taped.

  49. The 12th Man says:

Oh yeah the ladder match against Hall.

  50. The 12th Man says:

    Also missing the Saturn match.

  51. The 12th Man says:

Needs the HBK match, and DDP match from April 1999.

  52. Cody Schields says:

Didn’t have high hopes for this set, but this match list is pretty solid. Wish we could have gotten sting vs Goldberg from Slamboree 99, hoping for blu ray exclusive there

  53. Vincenzzzzzo says:

I’m not a Goldberg fan by any means, but I will get this regardless. Nice match listing. Alot of WCW PPV matches which is good.

  54. Colin V says:

OH MY GOD! I never thought this set was gonna be this good! Glad to see the Flair match made it on here. Can’t wait for this to come out! I was a die hard Goldberg/WCW fan back in the day. This will perfect to add to my WCW collection!

  55. Sheezy says:

Great listing, can’t wait for it. 30 matches is a record isn’t it? I would like to see the battle royal from road wild 98 where he beat the wolfpac as well as 4 guys from nWo Hollywood as a blu ray extra.

  56. Hollywood says:

I hope Goldberg vs Bret Hart from Starrcade is on the Blu Ray

  57. Mongoose Wizard says:

Wow now that is a collection! All we need is a few Blu Ray exclusives like his match with Scott Hall at Souled Out and a few others

  58. Brandon says:

It’s hard to dislike this listing – it’s basically all of his biggest matches as well as a few throwaway ones. If you’re a Goldberg fan, I can’t imagine this disappointing you.

  59. HANK says:

Goldberg vs. Steiner from Fall Brawl is a friggin’ great match! Glad to see it’s on this set.

  60. John says:

Great match listing! I hope the Goldberg vs Bret match is NOT on the bonus features, I am sick of seeing that match

  61. Anonymous says:

I cannot for the life of me remember who Dewanye Bruce is, but other than that, this looks perfect for a Goldberg set. Aside from the lack of Glacier, who I seem to remember Goldberg squashing 5 or 6 times anyway.

  62. ck says:

I hope in the Blu-Ray it includes his Raw match against Shawn Michaels in which it includes Batista interfering and collecting Triple H’s bounty.

    • SRB says:

Agreed. Very surprised that one isn’t there. But, I’m glad a few from Raw were included. I don’t ever remember Goldberg and Christian.

  63. SRB says:

I wish there were more matches with Goldberg in them.

  64. David says:

Actually looks pretty good…hoping the Blu-ray exclusives have several more matches including vs. Sting from Slamboree 1999 and vs. Luger from Mayhem 2000.

This might be an easy watch since majority of matches are quite short.

  65. Jammer says:

Holy!! That’s a freaking stacked DVD set!! That may be the best DVD set of any wrestler ever produced, but then again, most of his matches were under 5 minutes. Still, that’s a damn good match listing. I don’t think they missed out on much (if anything at all) so nobody should complain about this if they’re a Goldberg fan.

  66. Peach says:

I’m sure the bluray will have the few other ones im thinking of. His matches are all short so its no surprise that there are a ton on here. Its def as close to a complete collection as anyone is ever gonna get

  67. Justin Greeder says:

Not sure of anybody knows or not, but how many of these end in a loss? Just curious. I can’t imagine it being many. You can probably count them on one hand.

    • Anonymous says:

Starrcade 1998, April 5th Nitro (though I don’t know if he was pinned or not), Fall Brawl 2000, Sin, and Summerslam 2003 are losses.

  68. KarlKayfabian says:

Jim Ross couldn’t wait to retweet that listing from wwe.co.uk. You think he is still upset over Danny and Mark “scooping” him on the complete MidSouth listing?
