Here are all the confirmed details we know so far regarding WWE: The Greatest Cage Matches of All Time DVD.
Format: It will be a 3-Disc DVD set, no Blu-ray release.
Catalog: The catalog number will be WWE94931.
Release date: It hits stores in North America on June 28th, and reportedly in August for Europe (if buying here).
Synopsis: Some of the greatest rivalries end with brutal cage matches that keep the combatants in the ring and interference out. For decades, steel-cage matches have been one of the most popular matches in every wrestling company, including WWE, WCW, ECW, Smokey Mountain, AWA, WCCW, and more. This 3-disc set collects the greatest steel cage matches in history.
Content: Silvervision just confirmed that NWA World Heavyweight Championship match ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Lex Luger at WCW Capital Combat 1990, will be included on the set. That is the only match revealed so far.
More as we get it. Which cage matches would you like to see included?
anderson vs rock and roll ezpress
I hope they put matches on this set that have been very hard to find. Like what about the cage matches between The Hart Foundation vs. The British Bulldogs? Or Hulk Hogan cage matches when he was in the AWA? Man, the Owen vs. Bret and Tully vs. Magnum has already seen a DVD release. Also, is this going with the current WWE trend of “no blood”? I hope not!!!
NO John Cena matches PLEASE!
gosh, that sheamus vs cena match from last year was so terrible and some people here want it to be included in the DVD
one match that is nowhere on any dvd that i would like to see make this dvd for that reason only, is the ‘no holds barred’ match between hulk hogan and beefcake vs machoking and zues.
It’s a Shame we wont get to see Randy Savage/Jerry Lawler greatness from Memphis on this, as long as Tully-Magnum, Bret-Owen are on here then that’s good enough.
@Lawrence It may be possible that the whole match isn’t in WWE’s archive, if memory serves the finish/the Easter egg aired at the end of an episode of World Championship Wrestling on TBS (it was on Classics OD a whole ago), so that maybe the only footage that exists. Apparently the WCW video archive was a complete mess when WWE bought WCW. They even had the Flair/Sting match from the first Clash missing, which was why they only had clips on the first Flair set (which they mined from annother highlight tape), they later found the match on annother tape. Plus there are missing episodes of WCW Saturday Night and others (I remember WWE Classics Online saying when the WWE Universe was up and running that a Flair/Sting match, which someone requested was missing along with a few other episodes.)
@Tim,
Yes, the ending of that match is there. However, I’d like to have the entire bout. If memory serves, it went over 30 minutes.
I do agree with not including the Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart cage match from SummerSlam 1994. It’s been on several sets (including the Bloodbath set) and new matches should be part of this upcoming collection.
As long as Bret/Owen is on there, then it’s all gravy
These are the cage matches I would like to see included in the set.

@Lawrence Isn’t the finish to that match an Easter Egg on Bloodbath?
Should put the HBK vs Kevin Nash match where the Kliq celebrated Nash and Hall’s last match in WWF/E it was a cage match. I still can’t believe all the agents and behind the scenes people got mad over that, it was a great way to say goodbye to a friend which is rare in wrestling. The Kliq ran wrestling HBK and The game in WWE Nash, Hall, and SyxxPac in WCW.
Put the Flair/Garvin match from Sept. 25/1987 on there. It’s the match where Garvin won the belt in Detroit.
The Starrcade match is OK too, but that is where Flair won it back.
I was at Joe Louis Arena the night Garvin won the gold. It was a great match and should be included on this DVD.
Ric Flair vs Hulk Hogan WCW Uncensored 1999
benoit vs angle (the best cage match of all time)
benot vs jbl was good too. but its obvious they wont make it to the DVD.
The first cage match DVD was so poorly put together that they really need to make another one. For this reason I don’t have a problem if there are repeats. Might aswell withdraw the other one. Its so bad it doesnt count. When you think how many cage matches there have been that DVD is a bit of a travesty. Fingers crossed for the new one.
@Jesse Lanning I absolutely agree. I wouldn’t mind if any of the matches which were only highlighted on Bloodbath got released, like Flair & Garvin from Starrcade, but I defiantly DO NOT want to see Bret and Owen from SummerSlam I think it has been on more than 5 sets now! I want some rare matches (brand new to DVD matches would be fantastic). I think/hope WWE won’t disappoint with this one (please, please, please) 😉
I hope they don’t rerelease any from the first cage match dvd. Let’s get some new ones
matt hardy vs edge is the only other I haven’t seen already mentioned
A Capital Combat 90 match awesome, but the big question will we see Robocop lmao.
This is gonna be an awesome set, but it’s sad at the same time because I know that the best steel cage match of all time (Benoit vs Kurt Angle) will not be in it.
There’s been a lot of great ones listed so far but just to add a few:
Sammartino/Zbyszko
Rock ‘n’ Roll Express/Kollofs
Steamboat & Youngblood/Slaughter & Kernodle
Steiners/Money Inc
War Games from Wrestle War ’92

The final match listing was already settled before Extreme rules. So I doubt that match will be on there. I hope we see some rare matches.
guess that means this will be TV 14 to allow all the bloodbaths! the last match should be John Cena vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison from Extreme Rules
The Hardys vs Dudleys from survivor series 2001 has to be on there.
