WWE Greatest Superstars of 21st Century DVD/Blu-ray Cover Revealed

June 20, 2011 by Daniel Bee

Silvervision.co.uk have just revealed the planned cover artwork for WWE: Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century.

As confirmed previously, the feature will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray formats. It hits stores in the USA on July 26th, and follows later to other territories.

“Sure, we’re barely more than 10 percent of the way through the 21st century, but it’s not too early to look at some of the WWE superstars who are rewriting the record books on their way to squared circle immortality. Batista, John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, and Triple H are among the icons profiled in this action-filled compendium”.

[]

An early synopsis suggested that the DVD would profile 15 superstars that dominated the ring for the first decade of the 2000’s, with one of their greatest matches included for each. As you can see though, 20 superstars are featured on the cover so perhaps plans changed.

  2. jc man says:

  3. ShawnMichaelsNumbah1Fangirl says:

Oh thank goodness yay! Shawn Michaels is going to come back to WWE again! Aww, I miss him so much! :'(

  4. Busta says:

I agree that RVD maybe shoud have gained a spot over JBL. But where the heck is Mick Foley???

  5. james garcia says:

The dvd is going to be awesome because it has the Undertaker Stone Cold,Randy Orton and John Cena cant wait till it comes out July 26th.

  6. KellyMarie says:

This DVD looks good and interesting, some great stars on there. Glad John, Shawn, eddie is on there and Steve Austin.

Why is Trish there? if they are having divas as well. Where’s Lita?

I want to see this dvd, wonder if they will just talk about Trish Stratus in the divas, there’s a lot more. Ivory, Torrie, Stacy, Lita, Victoria..

I would like to get this DVD, i like watching these kind of things.

I like this site and I always check for the DVD news and read the comments. But I didnt realise how many wrestling fans are so very stupid. How can you not understand the Benoit situation? I’m shocked by the sheer amount of fans that can’t grasp this. He murdered his family so its not a good idea to feature him anymore. Tragic, but a simple moral issue. I even heard the video review man ‘Shaun Blackford’ say not including him on the Jericho DVD was the only thing hurting that DVD. You need to seriously get a grip and think about what you’re saying. I was a big fan and I know he had issues with his brain that rendered him insane. That helps us understand why it happened, but will never excuse it. There is no two ways about that. People arguing that he should be included on DVDs or go in the hall of fame either have a lot of growing up to do or are just simply sick in the head.

Oh yeah and Brock Lesnar breaking away from wreslting and being successful in another field is not the same as murder Steven. One is an outstanding achievement and the other is a despicable act. I’m wondering how many of you know which is which.

@JOHNNY… It pisses me off when ppl like u always say that wwe shud put benoit on their dvds. dont u understand as great as benoit was they’ll never mention him in the dvds or tv shows again because of what hes done? so just think next time say that wwe shud put benoit on the cover or on a new dvd. thanks.

  9. JOHNNY says:

All who are in the cover, are, others will be and others can not be like: Eddie Guerrero (deceased) and Jeff Hardy (Junkie), but others will be, others return, I would like to see everyone at WrestleMania 28, I’m sure that.
Lacking: Kevin Nash, Goldberg, Chris Benoit and others

  11. Chris Smith says:

With all due respect Steven they mention Lesnar a lot because he’s had so much success in UFC (which does MUCH better buy rates than WWE) and they’re trying to capitalise on his popularity, same as they would brag about all the celebrities that have appeared on WWE television. They’re leeching off his mainstream success to get people to buy the DVD, which may seem desperate, but from a business point of view it makes perfect sense, even if they’re showcasing a star from another organization. You want to make as much profit as possible and Vince would choose making money over keeping his distance from past wrestlers in other promotions any day of the week.

As for Benoit, is his situation REALLY the same as working for UFC? They mention Lesnar for mainstream exposure, they omit Benoit for entirely different reasons.

  12. Mark613 says:

oops – I meant “last” post, not first. Either way, that is some bizarre thinking.

  13. Mark613 says:

    @Steven in the first post…
Are you an idiot? Chris Benoit murdered his family – Brock left and had a successful career elsewhere. How can you even compare the two?!

  14. Steven says:

I don’t understand why they put Brock Lesner on the cover sure he won the title but he got booed out of WM20 and he’s in UFC now, they won’t talk about Chris Beniot but they sure keep mentioning Brock, makes no sense to me. I hope they put the SummerSlam 2002 match of HBK vs Triple H on this dvd.

  15. william says:

Way to many people on the cover should of had 4 5 at the most and most of the matchs there choose we’ll already own so i hope they put iron man judgement day 01

How people dare to say CM Punk deserves more credit than Kane?Really?Kane has been with WWE since 1997,he will be Hall of Famer!CM Punk IS NOT on the same league as Kane!

  17. Anonymous says:

Oh and European Champion if that matters.

  18. Anonymous says:

If RVD isnt on this it will have absolutely no credibility in my opinion. 6 time IC champ, money in the bank winner, ECW Champion, WWE Champion Both Tag team Championships, Hardcore champion and simply put one of a kind. If you put him amongst all those other faces on the cover I think he would one of very few to stand out. He never quite fit the WWE mould I guess, but thats a good thing. One of the only truly unique stars of the manufactured era. Who do you get rid of? JBL!! He was champion but I thought they only did that to annoy people and it worked. But he was never ‘great’.

  19. davrish says:

    john cena respekt

  20. Ricky Schmidt says:

Hate the cover. Too many people on it, it honestly looks like the Top 50 Superstars cover, and that’s not a good thing. I loved the Greatest Stars of the 80s/90s cover, this just looks terrible.

  21. Chris says:

Say what you want about Punk but he was a 3 (or 4) time world champion, back to back MITB winner and that fastest triple crown winner in history. I think that puts him above the likes of JBL, Booker and Kane who apart from one title run were mid card guys the majority of the decade.

  22. MickEiA says:

I like and it is good JBL gets some recognition for once

  23. Anonymous says:

How come attire on the dvd is updated when the rest are out of date and why is Trish there when its superstars i see a name change

  24. Anonymous says:

Cm Punk barely was champion. All he did was cash it in. He is basically a “new guy” compared to those wrestlers on top. Even Rvd didn’t get in. Say what you want about Jeff Hardy, you CM Punk fans ,but you have to admit he has amazing abilities in the ring and unlike CM Punk, Hardy has been here for a long while. Now stop bitching about the cover.

  25. Anonymous says:

I’m hoping for one or more of these three: 1) the Rock/Triple H Judgment Day 2000 Iron Man match (60 minute epic), 2) the Rock/Angle No Mercy 2000 match (Angle wins his 1st title), and/or 3) The Rebellion 2000 4way w/ Rock/Angle/Austin/Rikishi…. of course, this assumes they include 2000 as part of the 21st Century. I do, but a lot of people insist it didn’t begin until 2001.

  26. Rob L says:

The 80’s cover was great.. 90’s cover was good.. and this cover sucks.

  27. Jamie says:

People stop bitching over the cover’s of WWE dvd’s

  28. Anonymous says:

good cover better than the summerslam 2010 one at least haha

  29. Anonymous says:

Looks Like The Top 50 Superstars Of All Time Cover

  30. Mark D says:

Not really a fan of this cover, its a bit of a poor mans Top 50 Superstars copy.

A few of the images on the front have been used on PPV posters and other DVDs as well(i.e. Edge – Over The Limit 2010, Triple H – WM25, Big Show – WM24, Lesnar – Here Comes the Pain, Rock – The Most Electrifying Man).

And no CM Punk on the cover! Yet Jeff Hardy made it (in TNA and with possible jail time hanging over him!) no wonder Punk is on his way out…

  31. Daniel Bee says:

Anonymous: 10 years is a decade, not a century.

  32. Ryan William Harris (Esq.) says:

Every superstar that’s here deserves to be. Unfortunately that means that guys like CM Punk, Rob Van Dam, and The Miz get the bump. Miz I can forgive because he’s still relatively new to the main event. Punk only came to prominence in the last couple years. RVD though was one of the biggest stars for WWE from 2001-2006. He won the WWE & ECW Championships, was the only man to hold them simultaneously, still competed at a high level through 2007, and even made one last strong showing at the 2009 Royal Rumble. Who do you leave off though?

  33. Anonymous says:

Before anyone bitches about people not deserving to be on there. Every single male wrestler has held the world title in the years they are covering 2000-2009. Enough said

  34. Anonymous says:

Best cover since the Randy Savage´s set!

  35. Chris says:

Where the hell is CM Punk he’s done a hell of a lot more than JBL, Kane or Booker have in the last 10 years.

  36. Awesome One!!!!! says:

Wow, what a horrible looking cover. Looks like some amateur just got a bunch of PSD’s of wrestlers, stuck em all onto the page and wrote the title of the DVD with some crappy font they thought looked kewl.

But, in saying that, who honestly cares about the cover?

Its the content that matters, so even if the cover looks unbelievably crappy hopefully the actual set will turn out good, but I do sense a TON of matches already released on other sets making their way onto this.

  37. SRB says:

Very surprised to see Lesnar, Batista and Hardy on there.. . Very glad Angle is there.. since he deserves a 3 disc all on his own. very excited for the content.

  38. one word – Booker T? erm hardly groundbreaking is he? At least non WWE guys are on the front cover and given the same amount of space as other current guys.

  39. APD says:

I just want THE COMPLETE Lesner vs Angle Ironman match on DVD, if it’s got that I’ll buy it.

  40. Bob says:
