John Cena himself has left a teaser message on Twitter which reveals that the WWE may have a brand new John Cena DVD planned. Cena writes: “..I am deciding whether or not to include workout footage on a possible upcoming dvd. Thoughts? What would u guys like to see?”
This would be the third John Cena DVD to be released by the WWE following “Word Life” (2004) & “My Life” (2007).
In other news, there is a possibility WrestleMania 21 will be released on Blu Ray after CD Universe posted an upcoming product listing for the title (with an August release date). At this point we cannot confirm anything as it could simply be a listing mistake given that the event was primarily shot with standard definition cameras. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this story and we’ll keep you posted with any new developments.
You can view the Blu Ray product listing here.
That makes sense, thanks for letting us know Sunny.
Actually the listing on CDUniverse is a mistake and is the release date for WM26. The same date is given on FYE.com and Amazon.com.
Just to update regarding a possible John Cena DVD, Cena left this follow up message on Twitter:
“CeNation. Thank u guys for dvd suggestions. I will include footage of some of the akward stuff I do, clean, snatch ect. And also include some max effort stuff, like max bench, push press, squat ect. I will also do my best to include a day in the life, both at tv and maybe if I ever get a day off, what I would do at home.”
I believe the old movies that are now on Blu Ray were at least shot on ‘film’ originally which means they can be released on the format with enhanced video than that of the DVD because it was always there from the beginning (cinema quality beating DVD quality).
Whereas, the WrestleMania events before 24 were not primarily shot on this. I’m told however there were additional cameras around the ring shooting on film for some events prior to 2007. So how likely is it they will release a Mania event on Blu Ray which shows the event from a ringside perspective?
That is why it will be interesting to see if the listing is a mistake or not.
The fact that the event was filmed with standard definition cameras shouldn’t make much of a difference. There are plenty of old films released on blu-ray with vastly improved quality.
