Ooohhhh Yeahhhhh! Following the success of the WWE UNRELEASED 1986-1995 DVD in 2017, we can confirm that the rumored collection of unreleased and never-before-seen matches involving “Macho Man” Randy Savage has the official go-ahead!
The extras of WWE’s 2014-produced Macho Man DVD/Blu-ray set were filled with then-unreleased matches but the 2018 offering promises to unearth even more! Get a load of this…
The Macho Man has had legendary bouts with Hulk Hogan, Rick Rude, Ricky Steamboat, Jake Roberts, and many others. The WWE Universe may be familiar with many of them, but there were several excellent matches that have never made it to DVD. Now fans can own some of the Macho Man’s greatest matches that have never been released on WWE Home Video before.
“Randy Savage Unreleased: The Unseen Matches of the Macho Man” has just been added to the 2018 WWE Home Video schedule in both the United Kingdom and the United States; the DVD is scheduled to hit the UK on May 28th and follow to the USA just one day later on May 29th.
With this title seemingly being one in a series of Superstar-themed “Unreleased” DVDs coming soon (a Shawn Michaels installment is also expected) some WDN readers questioned whether these might take the format of smaller single or double-disc sets, however we’re pleased to report that the newly-revealed “Randy Savage Unreleased” DVD is getting the full 3-disc treatment!
And the 2018 updates don’t stop there as the coming days surrounding the “RAW 25” celebrations should reveal more details on the “RAW 25th Anniversary” DVD. We also anticipate the name of the Hardy Boyz DVD, the release date of WrestleMania 34, and a new title in the works for June.

Speaking of match selections, this week we unveiled the line-up of content included on the new TNA/IMPACT-produced Samoa Joe DVD. By popular request, today here’s a look at everything the company also included on their recent Bobby Roode and Eric Young match compilations.
“The Essential Bobby Roode Collection” DVD compiles a total of 30 matches, while featured on “The Essential Eric Young Collection” DVD is a whopping 40 matches!

I’m all for more Macho Man Randy Savage, but it’s been years since best of Saturday Night’s Main Event DVD, and I’ve been waiting ever since for similar releases; “best matches & moments of Prime Time Wrestling/Superstars” DVDs.
I love all the WCW releases over the years ( great American bash, starrcade, clash of champions, etc ), but I cannot figure out why WWF is ignoring their own shows of yester-year.
It’s been a minute since I posted on here. But I am happy that there is gonna be a new Macho Man release. I’m still crossing my fingers that the Spring Stampede 1998 match with Sting for the WHC will be on here. Since it wasn’t on any Previous Sting or Macho Man DVDs can’t wait to see the content.
Randy Savage vs. Booker T from WCW Nitro on the Macho Man bluray exclusive matches was actually on The Best of WCW Nitro – Vol. 2 dvd set.
Looking forward to the Macho Man unreleased set. Any update on the scheduled HBK unreleased set that was due this year?
totally down for more of Savage.
I hope this includes Randy Savage vs Owen Hart, I bet that’d be a good one
One of my favorite sets ever released was the Hogan Unreleased collection. When they followed this with Bret Hart, I felt it could really open the door to other wrestlers who had enough content to continue with the series. HBK is another great idea.
The Bret Hart Dungeon Collection set sucked!
I’m very much looking forward to the Macho Man unreleased set. I’m guessing AJ Styles is in June?
I hope that Savage vs Undertaker match from 91 is on there
Ah yes as well as the one where he teamed w/Undertaker in 92 to face Ric Flair and Berzerker. As far as I know, this tag match and the match you suggested haven’t been released before so they’d fit this set perfectly.
So the big question is since its a “unreleased” DVD will WWE follow it’s recent trend of unreleased = no commentary? I’d be willing to bet the answer is yes.
They state “unreleased to DVD”, so it still could be the best of his stuff that appeared exclusively on Coliseum Video and MSG / Boston Garden stuff etc. with commentary. Quite a lot of rare gems were released on the Randy Savage Story set though, so I’m not sure how essential this is, but this is still a much more attractive sell than an Ultimate Warrior Unreleased set, which was proposed at one time.
Imagine a set of Ultimate Warrior unreleased matches? It was hard enough to get a decent match out of him on TV and pay-per-view; surely he never put on anything but a squash match on house shows?
I do think superstar specific sets with no commentary whatsoever would be a bad idea.
What are your thoughts on if they ever happen Unreleased sets on who I feel are deserving enough to have one:
(In no particular order:)
1. Stone Cold Steve Austin
2. HHH
3. Owen Hart
4. Bret Hart
5. Jericho
6. Kurt Angle
7. Kane
8. Sting
9. The Undertaker
I didn’t put Shawn Michaels on here bc he’s deservingly so already expected to have an Unreleased set on him out at some point.
Possibly not, it says “never before released” but when they’re without commentary it tends to say “never before seen”. So it’s possible they could just be ones that were shown on tv/PPV but haven’t yet made it to DVD
Although it does state this in the purple bar above the synopsis:
“RANDY SAVAGE UNRELEASED – THE ‘UNSEEN’ MATCHES OF THE MACHO MAN”
Oh yeah
I was hoping the Eric Young vs Kurt Angle stretcher match from 2015 would have been on that DVD. Oh well.
Do you mean the Bound for Glory match? Thought that was universally hated due to the stuff about Angle being expected to (kayfabe) carry on with an injured neck and still winning, lol.
I meant the May 1, 2015 Impact match.
FIRST! and its a big one! cant wait for this
