wwe raw is the best sky sports tv show
brilleant
I got a question, I am looking to start a new WWE DVD collection, I bought some matches on digital already because I feel DVD is going the way of VHS, I do not have a blu ray player anymore (sold the PS3) once strong internet broadband connections that can upload HD are the norm in households, blu ray will be gone (but that won’t be in 5-7 years from now) also Netflix seems to carry a lot of WWE stuff out there (was able to watch a lot documentaries and sets on that), which DVD sets ir PPV should I consider buying or is too late at this point and wait to buy everything on digital
def want to buy this set too
hey BEERADO30
i would start with a particular superstar you like and go from there. as an example my fav is chris jericho after viewing his doc i would start buying ppvs that contained matches that weren’t included on the doc then you bridge into other superstars ,or another way to do it with ppv’s is have a rule a thumb where you only purchase ones that have 3 or 4 matches that you want to see and utilize sites like secondspin.com where you can acquire older ppv and docs for dirt cheap. or you can be like a vast majority of us and buy every single release. if you have anymore questions let me know
thanks man I will keep that in mind, picked up the NWO DVD, can’t wait for it to come in the mail
Does anyone think Sable is topless on the attitude era cover and that’s why they haven’t released it yet.
I wouldn’t be surprised if at least one mock up had an image of Sable taking off her top at Fully Loaded 1998. But, 15 years has passed and regardless of PG rating, there’s no way that they could put that on a cover today. You’d have WAY too many oversensitive people complaining about how WWE was degrading women even though she was more than willing to take it all off for a couple of nude pictorials and at least one movie outside of the company.
Also remember that next yea at the same time we are looking at a Raw 20th Anniversary…how much repeated clips can they provide on DVD? Raw 10th, Raw 15th, Raw the beginning, Raw 100 moments and then Raw 20th, just a thought.
WWE has yet to show Shawn Michaels vs. Max Moon from the first episode of RAW!
Unless you get the DVD of the first episode of Raw – Bonus disc with the Best of Raw 15th Anniversary. Might be a UK exclusive. Not sure.
I had the good fortune of picking up The Best of Raw 15th Anniversary set back in 2007. The fourth disc (which contains the entire 1st episode of RAW) was a Walmart exclusive. I still have the set.
I’m tired of seeing all these Raw dvd concepts that repeat the same stuff. I wish they would just do each season like they did with the first two.
Absolutely. Makes more sense in the long run. By the time they’ve released all these random compilations they could have been half way finished with having each year with its own set out there. But they don’t think it would sell apparantly. But I think the reaon that set didn’t sell too well is because 93 and 94 wasn’t the best period for WWE even if they do put Undertaker ont he cover. I think when they got to 97/98 you’d have had a top seller. But nevermind. The 15th anniversary set would have been good but they ruined it with all those stupid pop ups. So I got rid of it. I believe there is some other kind of Raw set on the schedule, but no idea what that concept is. Hopefully a season anthology. But who knows.
I would absolutely love the RAW season sets to be continued, and hopefully one day they will. I really want to see full episodes from 1996-1997. To me, the best years of RAW. 1996 and 1997 are two of my favorite years in wrestling.
Good point Daniel. The election is probably the key reason they haven’t released the Attitude Era cover. It’s best they fly under the radar on this one. The Democrats know the Economy is the real issue in this election, but they also realize that if they allow that to be the focus, they’ll lose because the Economy is just as bad today as it was when they took office in 2008.
So, instead of dealing with the real issue of the Economy being in as bad shape today as it was in 2008, the Democrats are coming up with smokescreens such as DVD releases or potential funding cuts to elitist networks such as PBS. Yeah right, because these things matter more than plunging salaries, gas prices that have doubled since 2008, and the high jobless rate. Nobody who considers themselves wrestling fans should vote for the Democrats.
Seriously? Of all the message boards you could use to waste everybody’s time with your politics you pick this one?
It’s a lovely straw man argument to say the democrats are the reason the cover hasn’t been released because maybe they’d attack it. No, the cover hasn’t been released because WWE hasn’t released it. It’s that simple. It’s WWE’s choice.
As far as thoughts about the election, I have many, but I’ll keep mine to myself because this isn’t the place. But I will say that your suggestion “Nobody who considers themselves wrestling fans should vote for the Democrats” is the worst attempt at trolling I’ve ever seen. There are many reasons people vote the way they do, but no one has ever chosen a candidate because “the anonymous guy in comments section told me to.”
The Attitude Era doesn’t come out until November 20. What difference does it make what it looks like or has on it right now when, no matter what, you can’t get it until November 20. I’ll bet that the nice folks at this site will get an early copy and at least a few days before it comes out you’ll get all the info you want. Then all the usual suspects can complain about how much the cover sucks and lament all the matches/moments that aren’t included.
Patience.
As for the Raw cover not mentioning it contains the full 1000th show, I can only speculate but maybe they thought “Raw 100 featuring Raw 1000” might sound confusing. Too many numbers for those of us who never watched those elitist shows like Sesame Street.
This is a wrestling board, not a political board to discuss the high US jobless rate or gas prices. To (hopefully) end this discussion, let’s stick to the facts about the Attitude Era DVD that someone brought up. Linda McMahon’s Democrat opponent used Attitude Era footage to sway voters to vote against her. The WWE responded by pulling Attitude Era YouTube and WWE website videos that the Democrats were using to portray the company and the opposition candidate in a bad light. If everyone just stuck to the topic and facts, we’d all be better off.
Whether they haven’t released the cover photo for any particular reason is speculation at best. I’m more concerned about the match and interview list myself. If done properly, this could be the release of the year.
If this doesnt show The Radicalz’s debut or Kurt Angle’s moonsault off the cage then I have no interest picking this up then.
If they don’t show Chris Benoit something something I’m going to complain on the internet SO HARD
The “simple” look of the nWo DVD made sense both in a design standpoint and because it involved various iterations of the nWo, so using the ‘tagged’ nWo logo encompassed it all. For this Raw set, it comes across more as a placeholder. Logo is cool, but it could’ve used some of those moments pictured on front to grab your attention if you’re a longtime fan.
Jeez, dont you guys know any better? Complaining about the cover when it’s the content that’s really important. Be careful, or else the internet WWE cover police are going to come after you. And by the way, the cover totally sucks. It took no mind and I could have done better with Photoshop or with WWEcovershop, Mark and I are gonna do a fantasy concept for all the covers that sucked over the years, including this piece of junk. I cant wait for it to show up on “Are you serious?” hosted by Jeff Jarrett. If you dont like it dont buy it!
Man, that is so terrible!
It’s an ok cover I guess. I would’ve definitely preferred a collage type of cover. Still a great addition to the collection.
I agree with Ryan. How many great new moments have there been since the last Best of RAW DVD (15th Anniversary)? (Maybe five? And they probably all included Punk or Bryan)
The only significant moment since the last set would be Ric Flair’s retirement storyline, Hart and Michaels shaking hands, Nexus debut, and Punk’s pipe bomb interview. Beyond those segments debuting on Blu-Ray, I can’t think of anything else. I think the selling point here is that it’s the first time they’ve put together a countdown list, not to mention that it’ll be the first time much of the old Attitude Era footage gets put on DVD without blurs.
The Attitude DVD is meant to come out before this. But this artwork for this has come first. How odd.
One word. Election.
I’m just hoping this set isn’t full of a lot of repeats from the Raw 15th set.
Another Raw dvd. Do we really need one? I’ll take a pass.
The DVD covers have been crap lately. Whoever is creating them should be fired.
After spending hours upon hours at the drawing board, they have finally revealed this groundbreaking DVD cover! They found an artist skilled enough to create this complex design, they put all their creativity into this, and they must be pleased with the results of this amazing and unique cover.
Anyone any idea as to where we can get this in the UK as silver vision won’t be producing any more???
eBay?
I like the cover as well. Not every cover needs to have some super photo collage on it. For the people saying it should state it has Raw 1000 on it… I’m betting it will have a sticker on the cellophane stating that. Its a great bonus for me since I was actually there.
My biggest questin from this entire article is…how exactly did the Raw 1000 episode launch a new era? I must have missed that! Lol.
Because…THEY said it launched a new era. lol
Awesome! Can’t wait to get this video game.
Its funny people are going bitch about the cover like ALWAYS…does the cover really affect you people from purchasing the DVDs/Blu-rays?!? does it really matter? Are you going to sitting near your shelf looking at the cover all day?!
The only thing that matters is the content…if the covers really affects you from purchasing these sets, then you people have some major OCD issues.
Anyways the cover is simple and to the point…don’t you remember the RAW 10th Anniversary cover?
I actually like the cover. I hope this set is almost like the 10th Anniversary SmackDown! set, which Michael Cole, and I think Taz hosted while they did the countdown. I found the SmackDown set to be well structured that way. The Blu-ray edition should have alot of cool exclusives too.
I think this cover would be a little better received if it wasn’t following nWo: The Revolution by just a few weeks, as they are very similar.
I also though it would have a little banner on the bottom of the cover pushing that it has RAW 1000 as well (as I think that is a USP of this set), but I guess they will just do that with a sticker on the front?
Anyways it should be a fun watch.
Agreed. Also, if another set deserves a simple cover, it would be the Attitude Era. Because of all that’s involved in the RAW 100 set (the 1000th show and all the moments), I think a collage of sorts would’ve been perfectly acceptable by most people. Heck, I would’ve done a collage of all the different RAW logos they’ve had, with the current one front and centre.
None of this is stopping me from buying the set (as I said a while ago, I’m a sucker for countdowns, good and bad) but I do feel underwhelmed, as a bit more going on would’ve been fine here.
It might be boring, but it’s simple and straight to the point. Sometimes that look just works!
The inside packaging will probably most likely have a collage.
WTF? That is fucking abysmal.
As long as it doesn’t include the usual stuff we have seen like. DX impersonating The Nation. Austin and the Zamboni. Austin & Tyson. I will get this if we get some rare stuff like matches and segments etc
I do agree with Jason H about putting a collage of images on the cover.it would have made the cover a 100x better.
Instead of solid black, I would’ve made a collage of images from the top 100 moments (small squares) and made that entire background slightly dark and visible at around 50%. That would’ve been better than solid black. However, I’m still really looking forward to this one, it also has the complete 1,000th episode of Raw on it.
Another dvd to skip, bring on 2013 already.
Kewl cover, just not kewl 4 UK buyers ne more 🙁
Nice to see they went all out for this cover.
Worst cover ever. A chimpanzee could have done it.
