October 11, 2011 by Daniel Bee

We are often asked if there will be Best of Raw 2011 and Best of Smackdown 2011 WWE DVDs this time around?

The answer is yes, but not individually as is usually the case.

We can exclusively reveal that Raw and Smackdown: The Best of 2011 will be released by WWE in 2012, which covers both shows in one larger set.

We can also confirm this will be a 4-Disc DVD title, also available on Blu-ray (which will be 3-Disc). This will be the first major release of the year, on January 31st in the United States.

For the WWE Universe, there are 4 hours of appointment television every week, as Raw on Monday nights and SmackDown on Friday nights continue to offer the most shocking, surprising, athletic, humorous, and dramatic moments on television. Now for the first time ever, the best of Raw and SmackDown are offered in one release–Raw and SmackDown: The Best of 2011. This 4-Disc DVD and 3-Disc Blu Ray release will include more than 11 hours of the best of Raw and SmackDown.

Includes the best, most outlandish, and controversial moments of the season including: The Rock’s return to WWE to become the most electrifying host in WrestleMania history Edge’s shockingly sudden retirement CM Punk’s game-changing antics and interviews and his caustic rivalry with John Cena The stunning removal of Mr. McMahon from power and Triple H’s ascension to WWE COO Randy Orton’s World Heavyweight Championship reign on SmackDown, and more!

  7. Roaster says:

I agree with continuing the Raw seasons. I understand WWE doesn’t want to lose money cause the 1&2 set didnt sell well, but I’m pretty sure as it goes on and they were to release 97/98,99/00/01/02 sales would definitely pick up. Only downside is no Benoit. I dont condone what he did but I just love his in-ring work and can still watch him.

  8. Bryan says:

Vincenzzzzzo they stopped because they didn’t sell as many units as they thought they would, I’m with you though I really want Seasons 3 and 4 95 was when I first started watching wrestling so 95/96 would be a special set for me.

  9. Anonymous says:

What ever happend to the Ted DiBiase DVD they had planned?

  10. SRB says:

Speaking of DVDs getting short does anyone have the lengths for the Ladder Match 2 DVD? Just curious.

  11. straightedge47 says:

Atleast they haven’t got rid of the series all together, I’ll most probably be getting that set. I hope the 11 hours is for the DVD as well as the Blue Ray, DVDs have been getting quite short lately.

  12. Mac says:

    CM Punk promo’s galore!!

  13. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    Good news.

I really hope WWE releases Best of RAW Seasons 3 & 4 (and so on) to continue that set. I don’t know why they stopped.

And I would REALLY like to see more Legends of Wrestling DVD’s come out next year. A box set of Legends of Wrestling sounds awesome. Definately a DVD/documentary on Ted DiBiase too.

  14. Roaster says:

I like this concept. Better to combine them cause there’s not enough “best of” content for either show to have their own separate 3 disc set. Maybe the bluray will get some good extras the dvd won’t have.

  15. ALK says:

I guess they’re not selling as well as they hoped. Either way, this set MUST have as much of CM Punk as possible to be a hot seller. ;P

  16. Daniel Bee says:

Hopefully we’ll see another gem or two in 2012, SRB 🙂

  17. SRB says:

Not really too excited about this one. WWE continues to ignore their stars from the past. Ive said it before and i’ll say it again, sets on guys like Ted Dibiase, British Bulldog, Rick Rude, Booker T and Kurt Angle are beyond over due. Please stop wasting time putting the current TV shows on sets. WWE really needs to start digging out of that video library and make a solid set. The Bret/HBK set was a great idea as is the KOTR set. More sets like that need to be produced.

  18. Anonymous says:

    SmackDown
    1 WHC
    Last Man Standing
    Edge vs Kane
    2 IC
    Kingston vs Ziggler

    Randy Orton vs Sheamus
    10 Mark Henry vs Kane
    11 IC
    Cody Rhodes vs Ezekiel Jackson
    12 WHC Cage Match
    Christian vs Randy Orton

  19. Steve says:

I could see Ziggler vs. Orton from the 1st RAW Supershow I think it was being on there. Also the standard 1 on 1 match were Orton won the title from Christian on Smackdown

  20. MadMike says:

I can’t think of too many stand out matches for 2011. Two matches that come in my mind is the Rey vs Cena for the WWE title on RAW and the Cage match Randy Orton vs Christian on Smackdown. What other matches so far do you people think will be included here. We still have months to go…

  21. Jamie says:

4 disc set of both Raw and Smackdown good idea

  22. Steve says:

even if 2011 has been an amazing year for wwe i doubt i’ll get this since i never miss an episode. still, really like the idea of combining them into 1 set

  23. Mark D says:

Someone called this a few weeks ago… 😉

  24. Stuart says:

It’s a great idea-I will definitely buy this release now:)

  25. X-23 says:

That makes a lot of sense. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than buying two separate sets!

  26. Brad Attitude says:

i find the year best of raw and smackdown dvd sets a waste of time. as an old school wrestling fan of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, i just find the today’s wrestling quality very lacking in all areas.

  27. I personally like it less shelf space…LOL
