WWE Blu-ray News: Shawn VS. Bret Photos, Ladder Match 2, Hell in a Cell

October 12, 2011 by Daniel Bee

A few readers have emailed to let us know they have had trouble finding WWE Ladder Match 2: Crash and Burn on Blu-ray at Best Buy stores. By the sounds of it Best Buy has the DVD version out, but not the Blu-ray.

When queried about this several employees have specified that it’s an online exclusive. It turns out that other physical stores such as Wal-Mart are stocking it but we can assume for Best Buy you should order it strictly online.

Courtesy of Silvervision.co.uk, here are photos of the Blu-ray edition of WWE Greatest Rivalries: Shawn Michaels VS. Bret Hart. This is the UK (Region B) release.

As you can see the front cover has a wider shot of Michaels/Hart than the DVD version and the content listing is on the reverse of the sleeve.

“Shawn VS. Bret” is released this Friday on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK when ordering here. As for the USA get your pre-orders in now for October 25th at Amazon or WWEShop.

As we revealed yesterday, Raw and Smackdown: The Best of 2011 will be the first WWE Blu-ray released next year. It’s a 3-Disc set (also on 4-Disc DVD) and scheduled to hit stores on January 31st, 2012 in the United States.

Below is the finalised Blu-ray artwork for WWE Hell in a Cell 2011. As of now the event will only be released on this format in Europe. That’s available in December.

lol, calling doesnt help cause walmart employees will just lie to you to get you of the phone. theyll say yes we have it or just hang up on you. walmart employees are mean and lazy they fell under pay and with out benefits so they try not to do much. and theyre always mean all the time at least thats how it is in my local walmart. one time i had to get a tv box of the shelf cause the employees wont help they just turn away like they dont see you that you need help.

  2. Neal says:

Calling the store beforehand is good and fine, however, the problem with that idea is speaking to some dimwit toothless hillbilly or some arrogant tech savvy blue shirt who doesn’t bother to even look. I have experienced that kind of “service” time and time again, thus the driving around aimlessly.

  3. LP1 says:

Whenever a store has something in stock, they usually always hold it for you for up to a certain time. Maybe an hour or so. I’ve been doing that for years. I never just drive to a store and hope that there’s something in stock.

  4. LP1 says:

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t understand the need to drive around to 4 or 5 different stores looking for something. I always call the stores before I leave the house to make sure they have them in stock. It’s silly driving around like that and getting nowhere. Next time just do what I do and call first!

  5. Isrs4life says:

For one reason why to get them first is a good option or else
your out of luck for a while till you have to feel if there is
ever a wwe bargain sale at a rare point of a year.

  6. Isrs4life says:

I hate the fact that they put them up at 26.99 and 42.99 months after
if theres only a few left which I think is a shame at HMV.

  7. Isrs4life says:

PPV’s where I live sell at 19.99 and DVD Sets have recently been
selling at 24.97 at hmv and 29.98 at Wal-Mart. I know it can be
pretty sh*tty but I manage to buy some that I like.

  8. FRS says:

I work at a Best Buy and we have Ladder 2 on dvd only. I looked around for it on BD after my shift ended today but to no avail. Better off using amazon for the blus it seems.

  9. Bill says:

I picked up Ladder 2 Blu-ray yesterday at an FYE it was $25 and I get 10% off with backstage pass. I didn’t realize it was such a hard find for everyone. I always get the Blus at FYE and DVDs at Walmart pretty much guaranteed to be $22.50 and $15 respectively.

Danville, Illinois wal mart has a ton of ladder match 2 blu rays

  11. agtdark2023 says:

The local WalMart here (Charlotte,MI.), has all of the DVD’s and BluRays on time all the time. They even bust out older BluRays such as Mania 25 and Mania 26 for $15. They sell each PPV DVD for $15 and most all BluRays are $20-$25. This is the best damn store in the world as far as WWE DVD/BluRays go!

  12. Charles says:

Same issue here on the south shore of Montreal… HMV has some blu-rays but only on the island of Montreal and I don’t want to waste 8$ just to go there and comeback by bus. I finally ordered Ladder match 2 on amazon as well as HBK vs Hart because I don’t have any more time to waste going from shop to shop and never finding any blurays.

  13. Dave says:

The Ladder Match Blu-ray was a tough find in the Toronto area. Went to couple Best Buys, Future Shop and Walmart and none had the blu-ray as well as the dvd. The Walmart had DVD placeholder for Ladder Match but nothing was there (probably sold out or never stocked them).

Anyways finally found 1 blu-ray copy at HMV…sucks it was such a tough find for everyone, kind of worried about the Bret/HBK Blu-ray if stores will even carry it around here. I’m probably going to pre-order it online to save myself from driving store to store.

The three toughest blu-rays for me to find in stores were Best of Smackdown 2009-2010, True Story of Wrestlemania and Ladder Match 2. Those were pain in the asses to find.

Who cares it’s just cover art, it’s a standardised banner.
Also one disc blu-rays are doing fine, they keep releasing them don’t they? It makes more sense to make them a pound more, with lots of extras than force an extra disc to raise the price, that’s why they weren’t selling.
If they stick to one disc they’ll keep going hopefully.

  16. Joe says:

@SRB No I don’t work at Wal Mart lol. It’s happened before though. Alot of times I’ll go there and they are still stocking the shelves at 10am with boxes all over the place and the store is open 24hrs. Thre were a few boxes that were open so I looked in a those and nothing. The rest of the boxes were still sealed. I don’t own a Blu Ray player so I wasn’t looking for the Blu Ray anyway although I did check for it at Best Buy and I did not see it. I completely argree with you 100% though. It pisses me off when I get to a store like Wal Mart and they don’t have it on the shelf. It should be there. I usually go to Wal Mart or Best Buy. Best Buy usually has the DVD’s on the shelf with no problem, but Wal Mart always sells the non ppv DVD’s for 20 bucks so I like to go there if Best Buy is not running a sale on them. But yeah Wal Mart is a gamble sometimes like yesterday. Like I said I better not run into a problem in 2 weeks with the HBK/Bret DVD. I seriously can’t wait to see that!!!

  17. SRB says:

@Joe.. thats exactly what im talking about “I think manily it was becuase they were still stocking the shelves. I looked in some of the boxes and couldn’t find it.” You looked in some of the boxes? Do you work there or something? The people who are paid to look in boxes should be the ones looking in the boxes. When that store opens at 10am the stuff should be on the shelf, as advertised. Very unprofessional.

  18. Neal says:

Just a quick note about the Ladder Match 2 Blu-ray issue. I personally visited 3 Best buys, 4 Wal-Marts, 2 Kmarts and 2 FYE’s around Central Florida yesterday. 5 hours and 200 miles later, coming home empty handed, I resigned to ordering the set on Amazon.com. Thanks for nothing, you inconsistent, misleading pricks.

  19. tnawwejosh says:

Danny i think WWE Blu Ray’s are selling good in the UK because they now always get into the top 5 on silvervision.

  20. Joe says:

I went to Wal Mart yesterday and they did not have the Ladder Match 2 DVD or Blu Ray. I think manily it was becuase they were still stocking the shelves. I looked in some of the boxes and couldn’t find it. I then went to Best Buy and they did have the DVD on the shelf but no Blu Ray. It actually worked out better for me cause the DVD was $19.99 at Best Buy and I had a $5 off coupon so I got it for $14.99. It does upset me though cause when I go to get these DVD’s I expect them to be on the shelf and not have to drive around wasting gas going from store to store to get them. Better not happen in 2 weeks with Bret/Shawn. Can’t wait for that!!!

  21. HitmanVanDam says:

I think this is a reason why Silvervision is so popular in the UK. They always get stuff to you really quick, cheaper and sooner than everywhere else and the delivery is free. They even give you a 10%discount if you buy 3 items. I don’t remember the last time I bought a WWE release in a shop because they are usually almost double the price. I prefer to do proper shopping but it just doesnt make sense money-wise these days.

  22. SRB says:

I really cant stand this in general. I really hate how stores advertise stuff they dont have. I dont know about you guys but i got off of work and went to a few stores and pretty much had to drive all around the city to 4 different locations and still none of them had the DVD. Ordering online is a good way to go, but nothing guarantees it will show up on the release day or even a few days after. Plus, i hate waiting for stuff in the mail. I really dont know what happened to casually going to a local DVD store and being able to actually pick up the thigns they advertise. Best Buy has completely taken over and forced other stores out of business. I wouldnt have a problem with this if they were actually reliable with their products. The DVD came out yesterday so theres no reason why it shouldnt be there

  23. Daniel Bee says:

More and more clues WWE on Blu-ray aint doing so well, me thinks.

  24. Bowers says:

in response to Steve having a hard time finding them in stores, your exactly right. Recently i’ve been getting the Blus from amazon cause i know on release day. as most stores don’t even carry the blu version

  25. SRB says:

I actually have the reverse problem in my area. They have the Blu-Ray but do not have the regular DVD version. It’s not even on their website. FYE it is!

  26. Steve says:

It was impossible to find the Ladder Match 2 on Blu Ray yesterday. After trying 3 Best Buys and 2 Walmart’s I did what I should have done in the first place and ordered from amazon. Maybe they would sell more Blu Ray’s if they made them available!

  27. HitmanVanDam says:

I think in a few years time this will sound even more silly. How is WWE HD any different to normal HD. I think I’ve got some stuff presented in WWE VHS and some presented in WWE DVD. I think putting that on the cover is silly because everyone knows what a bloody blu ray is and it just takes away from the cover art itself. The presentation itself though is one of the best things I have ever seen.

  28. Tommy B says:

I really don’t know what the point of this whole “Presented in WWE HD” thing is :/

    • Daniel Bee says:

I guess the “Presented in WWE HD” bar is another attempt at pushing the benefits of buying the Blu-rays. I think it looks a bit too thick on the front cover though.
