Of course you could cherry pick some stuff they left out of a 30+ year career…but they really did a great job. This might even be the best set yet as far as forgotten TV matches…a Flair TV match, a Vader TV match, plus stuff like Sting vs Stan Lane and Sting vs Butch Reed and a bunch more!
I don’t know why people are complaining about this set. WWE will definitely do another Sting set down the road with a documentary. This will be a first day purchase on Blu-ray for me. Content listing plus extras is a win win.
Although I wish some segments were included, I will enjoy reliving what made the Blu Ray extras list very much.
Segments I am talking about (don’t remember the date these segments were shown):
1. Sting watching Jeff Jarrett’s interview with Mike Tenay. Jeff talked about how Sting dropped the ball at Fall Brawl.
2. The Sting Army saving Roddy Piper.
3. The two Stings/Steiner Brothers segment. This was where the real and fake Stings came through the crowd at the same time. Both turned around and Sting hit the fake Sting with the Scorpion Deathdrop.
4. Sting last words (till he broke his silence) – this is where Sting took out the fake Sting and where he first said, “The only thing that’s for sure about Sting is nothin’s for sure.”
5. Promo segments – “It Feels good to be beck in black” and “Survey says, Scott Hall, you’re dead.”
Actually, there are 19 Blu-Ray exclusive extras on this set, not 20. I counted it several times very carefully and I always came up with the number 19. I’ll be buying this Blu-Ray set for sure. The content on this Blu-Ray set is top notch and there’s so very much unreleased stuff on this set. This will be such an amazing Blu-Ray release by WWE. In a few years from now, I fully expect WWE to release another Sting Blu-Ray set, but with a documentary. There really does need to be a documentary on the very likely second Sting Blu-Ray release.
I am so excited about getting this set now. A great selection of Blu-ray extras.
I can’t wait to see what the cover art looks like =)
I counted 38 matches (counting Blu-ray exclusives). That is a ton of matches! What was the last DVD to have this many matches? This will be great!
This is by far the best offering WWE has given us this year. This set will be a bright spot on a fairly lackluster year for DVDs following 2012 and 2013, those years being hard to match I guess. Still, like where they are going with these WCW sets. Wonder if we will see “Best of WCW Nitro Vol.3” or “ECW Unreleased Vol. 3”? And, how about a “Best of Thunder” set? I know it wasn’t that good of a show compared to Monday nights offering but still plenty of good matches took place on Thunder.
Can I enjoy this Blu ray, even though I have never seen Sting?
I’m so curious why every one talk about him how he was huge star cuz I just watch WWE.
For sure man, you need to watch his early stuff until the end of WCW to watch his rise and transformation to understand his career. He was the number 1 guy in WCW before Hogan came in but was a major player. If you think the 1 year build-up for the Rock vs Cena was good, watch the build-up to his match against Hogan at Starrcade 97, amazing 1 year build up (Crap match though :/)
Too bad that one year build is not on this Dvd.
I wouldn’t call this the ultimate collection. Not enough big matches. This is more of an unreleased set. Still a first week buy for me though.
This release should be used as the blueprint of all future releases. It’s loaded with unreleased material featuring one of the most iconic performers in history against, for the most part, other all-time legends. I honestly can’t remember any release over the past 3 years of so being as good as this one. Good job WWE and I’m looking forward to volume 2.
WWE has the ability, through their vast library, to make a good or great dvd set an epic, end all set. I believe they choose the former because of their stupid revisionist history and ability to make more money later. Like on they did on the Mid-South set
Of course WWE wants to make more money, thats what they’re in business for. If they can squeeze out another Sting DVD using more later footage, so be it.
We all know people on here are going to buy it….WWE just have to put on several unreleased matches and 20+ Blu-ray extras and everyone is frothing out the mouth to buy it.
No “Crow” sting moments? SMH
Had to go look up who “The Bruise Brothers” were and noticed they are the Harris twins. Didn’t recall them working in WCW in 1994.
Great looking set, probably best of the year. However, no Rude or Sid matches plus Sting/Bulldog Vs. Vader/Sid is still MIA. The strap match with Vader would have been good but not very pg. Cant wait for this one.
Looks like they focused alot on pre-Crow Sting.
Take my damn money already!
Cool extras, can’t wait to get this.
This is probably my most anticipated release of the year no doubt. I just wish there would of been some 97 era crow moments in the blu ray extras. That was probably my favorite era of sting even though he wrestled what 1 match all year? Just the moments with him hanging in the rafters and coming down and beating down the nwo were amazing. Man we really need 97 nitro on the wwe network
I would’ve preferred matches over promos/moments as usual, but it’s really hard to complain about 20 extra features and segments. This is probably the best extras list in a while. I’m glad we’re getting some great stuff for this set. Can’t wait to see the cover.
The blu ray as a whole looks cool. I can’t wait to get it.
