WWE Superstar Collection & Taker Streak to Digital, Classics Updates

[Digital News via @PWondemand].

– The biggest WWE release of the month is Undertaker: The Streak. Unlike previous digital releases, WWE has split up the discs into matches, with each match available on their own. There are 20 matches and the documentary up for download. Along with the Superstar Collection, WWE has changed how their digital versions are released.

The 37 minute Streak documentary is available for the same price as the matches. It’s up for download on Xbox Live in SD and HD, found under “TV Seasons” rather than movies. Taker Streak is also available on iTunes with split matches.

POV: This is no doubt one of the biggest digital releases of the year as they have made every match available on its own, which shows a change in direction and a more “digital” friendly process. For me there are so many awesome matches, especially those more recent matches with guys like Batista, Edge and Randy Orton. However, the documentary isn’t that amazing and in my opinion is a wasted opportunity without new information nor word from the Deadman himself.

– Both WWE Superstar Collection videos based on John Cena and Zack Ryder are now available to download on Xbox Live, Vudu and iTunes. Each video has been split down into individual matches, with each match priced at $2.99/240 MS Points (HD) and $1.99/190 MS Points (SD). There is only 4 matches on Cena’s collection while Ryder has 6 matches. If you buy the season (all of the matches), it works out at $11.96 (HD) & $7.96 (SD) per collection, Ryder’s $9.99 in SD, which is more expensive than the DVD.

POV: These little collection sets are a bit of fun. Three of the Cena matches were not previously available to download and are PPV quality matches, while the Zack Ryder collection is full of TV matches. For the same money you could buy each episode of RAW for the same price bar the ECW match with Christian.

– WWE’s PPV offering No Way Out 2012 is also now available to download on the usual platforms such as iTunes and Xbox Live – each match costs $2 (SD) and $3 (HD).

Matches Available to download include:
* World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus vs Dolph Ziggler
* Big Show vs John Cena – Steel Cage
* WWE Champion CM Punk vs Kane vs Daniel Bryan
* Cody Rhodes vs Christian
* Justin Gabriel & Tyson Kidd vs PrimeTime Players
* Hunico vs Sin Cara
* & more

POV: There are only 3 matches worth downloading from No Way Out which are the two world title matches and the main event involving John Cena. I originally thought Kane was going to ruin the WWE championship match but he added an extra dimension to the storyline involving AJ, which I enjoyed. I also really liked Dolph Ziggler getting a decent outing against Sheamus, but probably the main thing was getting rid of Johnny Ace as GM. Worth spending $6 on these three downloads.

– Vudu.com has listed “The 50 Greatest Finishing Moves in WWE History” – which will be available to download from August 21st in SD and HD, and has a run time of 113 minutes.

– ECW December to Dismember is now available on Xbox Live.

– Impact Wrestling’s Sacrifice 2012 is now available to view on TNAondemand.com. The site has added a newly redesigned home screen which has details on new releases and new videos, especially the live/post show free videos.

They have also added a Release Schedule – live TNA PPV’s to be converted to PPV archive: Slammiversary 2012 – 8/10/12, Destination x 2012 – 9/7/12, Hardcore Justice 2012 – 10/11/12, No Surrender 2012 – 11/19/12, Bound for Glory – 12/10/12.

TNA are working on getting the first 50 episodes of the Asylum Years online between July 20th and October 12th, 2012.

– WWEGreatestMatches.com has been updated with new full matches including:

    The Monday Night War is up to the point leading into King of the Ring and SummerSlam 1997. I love re-living that period in time on RAW when the Hart Foundation was running wild. The Patriot should be making his debut soon, lol….

    • Harry Faversham says:

      That was my favourite time in wrestling. I found the transition into what we now call the attitude era to be more interesting than the attitude era itself. For me the chase was better than the catch. The first time is usually the best time and that had a lot of new things in that period.

      • Vincenzzzzzo says:

        Yep… End of 1995, 1996 and 1997 were awesome years. Watching, you could tell things were changing. Just a great time to be a fan.

        • Dave says:

          I agree…watching 97 was great! just seeing the rise of Austin, his feud with HBK, and Hart Foundation were great. Bret was awesome! and was getting great on the mic. The whole heel in US and face in Canada was brilliant.

          Vince had to do anything to counter WCW when they were really kicking their ass in the ratings and were at their peak.

    I think that The Undertaker The Streak will be WWE best selling dvd and blue ray for the year

  3. Anonymous says:

    Nitro was actually very good in 1998. In 1999 thats when it really started going down hill the most. And by the year 2000 it had completely took a turn for the worst.

  4. Supersonic says:

    More likely bc Nitro sucked balls by that point.

  5. Dave says:

    I wonder why they stopped airing Nitro from 1998…my guess is it starts to get heavy on Benoit content with the 4 Horsemen. Conveniently it stopped in August and September was when the re-formation started.
