Last week, right here on WrestlingDVDNetwork.com, it was speculated that WWE has scheduled an NXT-themed DVD for release sometime during the first quarter of 2016.
Now, we can confirm it!
All going to plan between now and then, information we’ve just received reveals that the company will release the NXT Home Video in March as a 3 disc DVD set and 2 disc Blu-ray set. Early indications are that this will be a worldwide offering, not an exclusive to one region.
“The Best of NXT” is the working title we’re seeing for the DVD and Blu-ray right now, which naturally suggests that it will have a “Best of” style match compilation in there. Solid details on the format will become known as we get a little nearer to its release.
Stay tuned – we’ll be posting more updates on 2016 WWE DVDs in the coming days.
The next WWE DVD, “The Monday Night War Vol. 2: Know Your Role”, is just 4 days away!
We showed you pre-release photos of the new 4 disc DVD set last week before it’s even in stores and now comes a first look at the Blu-ray edition, courtesy of WrestlingSuperStore.
Sting and Triple H featured in Volume 1’s interview extras, and this time it will be Eric Bischoff.

Cesaro vs Sami Zayn – 2 Out of 3 Falls
All the NXT TakeOver closing matches, including Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens from Takeover Brooklyn…..also from Takeover Brooklyn:
Jushin Liger vs Tyler Breeze
Bayley vs Sasha Banks – Women’s Championship
The first ever NXT Women’s Championship match
That’s my wishlist for the set. It’s also my wish that we wil get the Takeover events in full on bluray someday. It does not matter of they are sold separately or in a bundled Takeover bluray box set, I’ll buy them.
So you prefer stuff to be on Blu-ray only?
That would be nice. Considering it’s 2015.
I will not be buying the Best Of NXT dvd set at all, WWE is not the same anymore
Thomas u r a troll…get over yourself…
I’m interested to see what matches are on the Best of NXT set. I hope that Cesaro vs. Sami Zayn is on it, and a lot of the women’s matches. I also hope that they have comments from the stars, retrospectively reflecting on the matches they participated in.
It sounds promising to me, so I hope it delivers as much as the product has 🙂
Nope. No money from me, Vince. You just build these talents up so you can job them out to Cena and the Bellas later. Refuse to put my money into a company that stinks of PC cowardice. Hogan made your company what it is. Deal with it Vince.
What a boring and ridiculous comment.
Best of NXT?
I think WWE are running out of ideas for dvds now they gotta release stuff on wrestlers who don’t know technique, ring psychology, story telling or how to sell in a match.
Now, a Best of OVW would be something worth making.
Have you actually seen some of the NXT matches and events?
I have Mark, and sad to say that there’s more to wrestling than just hitting big moves on each and having spotfest matches. Wrestlers today lack the experience seasoned veterans of the past used to have and don’t demonstrate the same or similar qualities to have classic matches. Things from good mic skills, selling, ring psychology, restholds, knowledge of wrestling history are things today’s superstars lack greatly so therefore the NXT product may appeal to the younger generation but to old school fans, it’s cheapened what wrestling used to be about.
Not buying this garbage dvd.
@Paul, I’m an oldschool fan and I absolutely love NXT. Your description of high spots with no storytelling doesn’t fit the current NXT at all. I don’t know specifically what matches you’ve seen, but very rarely are guys doing high spots for the sake of just doing them. Of course there are tons of indies that fit that description, but if you watch NXT week to week and watch how the stories progress before reaching the big blow off matches, then you’ll that feuds and stories are more logical than anything going on with the main WWE roster.
Storytelling is part of putting together a match. It’s not just about doing highspots. all the great matches in history had great stories to tell in their matches. Fact is these indie guys don’t know how to put on a classic match with all the things that match an instant classic. NXT and indie wrestling does everything wrong with a wrestler.
As I understand it, NXT is a development project..which would mean it is meant to expand talents skills among other things..
I have only seen a handfull of NXT matches from the past 12 months..and I have to say, that I find it much more interesting and full of soul than the main roster product, only surpassed by Brock Lesnar on the main scene.
I only hope that the vibe and soul is not to be lost like it happend with TNA’s revolutionised X-Division.
Don’t forget about the best of Deep South Wrestling & Best of FCW.
Thee are a lot of great ideas for DVD concepts, the problem is WWE never uses them in most cases. The fantasy concept on this site needs to return. I miss that.
I wonder how many women’s matches will be on this DVD. I personally think that you could devote almost a whole disc to The Four horsewomen’s matches.
I agree completely. The women’s matches in NXT are nothing like the women’s matches on the main roster. The booking between the two are like night and day. In NXT the women are treated seriously and can main event shows. The NXT Women’s Title is important. Whereas on the main roster the women are still being called “divas” which is just a stupid marketing name. The term diva is not a flattering word. It means a stuck-up pretentious woman who thinks everyone else is beneath her. WWE is clearly not aware of that and thinks the term is a positive thing. Plus their women aren’t treated as serious as the men and they never will be as long as Vince still sees them as just eye candy instead of athletes.
Giving the women on Raw longer matches is NOT a revolution. The women’s title on the main roster is a joke. They’re so busy proclaiming how great Nikki is and making sure she beats AJs record(because they’re still mad at Punk) that they don’t even realize how bad they’re booking the division. The last time Nikki defended the title on TV was at the Beast In The East show. That was over 2 months ago! These silly teams are a joke. These last few months with all these Team Bella, Team BAD, Team ABC, Team 123 are just a distraction so you don’t notice that Nikki hasn’t defended the title and she can become the longest reigning champion.
Sorry about the long rant. It’s just that after being there live at NXT Brooklyn and seeing that amazing Sasha-Bayley match and how it was presented and the reaction it got, it makes me so mad that WWE refuses to do the same thing on the main roster. Sasha vs Bayley was easily the best match WWE put on during those 3 days in Brooklyn. Easily better than anything at SummerSlam. For sure.
maybe, we are having a new Kliq, partly…or even maybe mostly…dictating who’se this and that..after all, Nikki is the gf of the face of the company…the same face that lost more times than he won against Punk..
I never really been a huge fan of women wrestling, but after I have watched that NXT Brookly match, I certainly prefer that one over anything that has happen in the Divas/Women division since Trish retired.
Just add Vol 1 to the end and the NXT set will be perfect.
SWEET! My upcoming top 3 dvd releases are –
1. Owen: Hart of Gold
2. The Best of NXT
3. WWE Best PPV Matches of 2015 – if exclusive to North America this year unlike last year.
Yes, I still buy dvds. 😛
I want to pick up a couple of DVDs from WWE Shop.com. Is the 25% Off special for today the only sale this weekend or will there be better sales? I don’t want to buy something now, if I can get a better deal later.
Haven’t been this excited for a Blu Ray release in a while. This is going to be fantastic. Can’t wait to see what they are going to include.
It’s not a Blu-ray exclusive.
What’s the source for the info on NXT dvd?
WDN, with 5 years of experience? 🙂
they’ve got connections..to the Higher Power.. 😉
As my old boss used to say… “I *am* the source”!
exciting news.. this release would be a way for me personally to get more familar with NXT brand..
eager to find out what else there may be on its way in 2016:
Hardcore championship collection..? Shane O’Mac collection..? OMG vol. 3: ECW..? Falls count anywhere vol. 2..? WCW PPV matches vol. 2..? True story about Royal Rumble..?
And everything else that may be on the table.. 😉
And maybe a WCW Best of Monday Nitro Volume 4 DVD set to boot?
