EXCLUSIVE: The Name of WWE’s New DVD on The Rock Is…

December 23, 2011 by Daniel Bee

The Epic Adventure of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

We’re not kidding, that’s how it appears right now on WWE’s Home Video schedule which was updated a few hours ago.

It also appears “WWE” itself has been removed from the name. This may be a way of capturing a more mainstream audience than strictly wrestling fans. Either way, the DVD and Blu-ray is still being released by WWE under their catalog.

The Epic Adventure of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson [3-Disc DVD]

The Epic Adventure of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson [2-Disc Blu-ray]

As we previously reported, The Rock will this time be involved in terms of filming new footage to be included on the set, unlike his last DVD which was solely archive footage.

The DVD and Blu-ray is set for release in the United States on February 21st, 2012 – on the road to The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28. You can pre-order yours over here.

He electrified a generation of sports entertainment fans with his brash style, superb athleticism, and uproarious interviews. He held the WWE Championship a record seven times, and was known for legendary battles with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, Mick Foley, Undertaker, and more.

And at the peak of his popularity, he made a move to conquer a new industry, becoming an enormous movie star. Now, he’s back in WWE, ready to main event the biggest WrestleMania in history, “The People’s WrestleMania.”

In the exciting buildup to WrestleMania XVIII, fans can, for the first time ever on DVD, relive the exciting life and times of the Rock. Packed with brand new interviews as well as a selection of the Rock’s biggest career-spanning bouts, moments, and promos, this DVD/Blu-Ray set will electrify every member of Team Bring It!

hope we see his last one on one match vs goldberg.

  2. WWEBluFan says:

One match I want for sure:
4/4/2002 Smackdown vs. Chris Jericho, the (unofficial) end of their epic feud!

  3. LP1 says:

@WWE fan, it was a record at the time because Rock was the first guy to win the WWE Title 7 times.

@Kevin Lester, the Sting dvd has already been discussed. WWE won’t release a DVD on Sting as long as he is still under contract to TNA. End of story.

  4. WWE fan says:

He held the WWE Championship a record seven times,??? how can that be”a record” when Cena is a 10 times WWe Champion?…………….just saying

  5. kevin lester says:

Sorry LOL but it’s hard to type on a phone when you can’t see what ya doin. But you get the jist of my point.

  6. kevin lester says:

Ok, I’ve. Been without internet for a week but I want to go back to. the discussion we had last week. Guys, you think WWW releasing a DVD on Sting now is just so is all about??? It just makes sence. Wwe is huge & i can’t se putting out a dvd like tjis huting them at all. Vince ownes the footage, stop being a greedy ass!!ridiculous but why?? What’s the difference between that & wwe. releasing his material on sets like starrcade, wcw. or nitro? You know they would sell & after all isn’t the money. what wwe. i

  7. Brett Mix says:

This DVD doesen’t really interest me anyway. Anything The Rock has done I want to see I can as I own or could youtube it. Rock’s first DVD is enough for me. Hogan vs Rock 2 was absolutely horrible. Plus they had it on Montrel so they had the fans on their side. Anywhere else and it bombs.

  8. Will NJ says:

Can’t wait for the follow-up, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Bogus Journey. Hopefully some marketing genius at WWE nixes that title asap, but let’s not hold our breathe.

  9. Anonymous says:

Wow whats next.. John Cena and friends Super Hour

    LETS HOPE SO!!

  10. G-UNIT2 says:

One match I hope they put on this set is the match from Fully Loaded 1998 Rock vs Triple for the IC title, man that was a good match.

  11. Wes82 says:

I hope for the Triple H dvd they don’t call it The Game The Epic Matches of his career or something stupid like they are naming this Rock dvd.

  12. now a days the word epic is used for everything!!!!

  13. captain planet says:

That is so hilariously bad. The word “epic” is completely ruined thanks the internet teens anyhow.

  14. NickP says:

Wow whats next.. John Cena and friends Super Hour

  15. Horrible tittle and horrible booking for the dvd since they wont include probably the biggest match of his career againts Mr. Fruity pebbles himself and all the macthes that he’s gonna have for the build up to mania. Agree with Evan that the tittle sounds like a Cartoon!

  16. WWEBluFan says:

Charles- that “Halftime Heat” match is available on Mick Foley: Hard Knocks & Cheap Pops (unblurred) and the Top 50 Superstars of All Time (blurred). I wouldn’t get my hopes up on seeing it on this Rock set.

  17. Charles says:

Horrible title name but it doesn’t really matter. What’s important is the content.

I hope they put in the halftime show match vs mankind in a empty arena. Is this match ever been published on another dvd?

  18. Outsiders4life says:

That has to be the worst DVD title for WWE in years, it’s the Rock not the Rock Experience, there trying to please the Little Jimmy’s. Oh how I miss the glory days of the Attitude Era.

  19. mikey says:

well most of you lot love kiddy-WWE-PG so theres a kids DVD title for you, the epic adventures of Rocky in wonderland LOL haha

  20. Anonymous says:

    cena baby yeah

  21. Anonymous says:

I HOPE THEY INCLUDE HIS MATCH VS HULK HOGAN FROM NO WAY OUT 2003. GREAT MATCH.

  22. WWEBluFan says:

If you just changed the word “adventure” to something like saga/journey/story, then made it the subtitle to one of his catch phrases, the name improves dramatically. But yeah, it really doesn’t matter (to steal a line from the Rock).

As long as we get the Rumble ’99 match with Foley, and his RAW match with Flair, I’ll be a happy camper. Here’s hoping for some good blu-exclusive matches too!

  23. scsa says:

I just hope its got a GREAT DOCUMENTARY with GREAT MATCHES! With all his times in the:

    – Nation Vs D-X n Triple H
    – The Deadly Game Survivor Series – being in the Corporation as the 1st Corporate Champion!
    – Rock Vs Steve (if they add WM17 Match, hopefully they’ll add the build-up too cos they didn’t add it in the Austin Blu-Ray 🙁 + I’d like to hear the ‘My Way’ tune if possible :)!!
    – Rock Vs Triple H / Rock n Sock Connection / Hollywood Hulk Hogan, etc…

  24. Dave says:

It’s just a name…get over it people! you people will buy it regardless.

  25. Harry Faversham says:

Its a silly title. But that doesn’t mean it will be a bad DVD. Far from it. Because apparantly the DVD will be ‘epic’.

  26. Anonymous says:

Did John Cena name it or something..I mean ill still buy it, but that name is the silliest thing I have heard in a long time..sounds like a 90’s cartoon lmao

  27. kevin lester says:

OK MAYBE IT WON’T HAPPEN RIGHT NOW BUT WHEN& IF IT DOES, I’LL BE THE FIRST IN THE LINE. SO IF WE CAN’T HAVE THE STINGER THEN WHY NOT MAYBE ANOTHER ON KANE?? I’M SORRY BUT I’M VERY ANTI WWE AFTER 2008. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO DIDN’T ASK FOR THE FIRST DVDS ON THE ROCK & WE SURE DIDN’T ASK TO HAVE TO LOOK AT ANOTHER. MAYBE WWE’S SALES WOULDN’T SUCK IF THEY WOULD CONSODER ALL THEIR FANS.

  28. Charisma says:

True… the Randy Orton Experience was eventually renamed “Evolution of a Predator”

  29. Daniel Bee says:

The site is positive. Just couldn’t resist having a bit of fun reporting on this bizarre name ;). I can kinda see what they are going for – something to reflect the life of The Rock through wrestling and movies, and appealing to a wider audience than usual because of Dwayne’s popularity. I’m thinking they will rework the name a little between now and Feb.

  30. Jeff Copeland says:

wow thats all people got time for is to bitch about a title for a wwe dvd sighs sad sad sad wait i am gonna quote a wwe superstar and lets see if u can guess who STUPID STUPID STUPID its randy orton btw lol STOP BITCHING PEOPLE

  31. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    @kevin lester

if you think WWE putting out a DVD of a superstar who wrestles for ANOTHER promotion is a better idea… then your ideas are dumber than I originally thought. Wow. Maybe TNA can make a retro set on the career of the Undertaker? LOL!

  32. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    @chrono

its not just here, unfortunately. Its everywhere. Everybody is a “fantasy booker” and think they could create better storylines than WWE/TNA/ROH, etc. Granted, some ideas are good and make sense, but others are laughable at best. You win some you lose some.

  33. Charisma says:

Maybe his epic adventure will show the making of the Tooth fairy or his race to witch mountain xD

  34. LP1 says:

@Kevin Lester, do you really think WWE will put out a DVD of one of the top current TNA stars? Not happening. Once he leaves TNA for good then it’s a possibility.

@ShaunBlackford, you’ve been waiting for in depth Rock set for years… and now you’re getting it. So what’s the problem?

  35. kevin lester says:

STUPID. PLAIN STUPID. HOW MANY MORE DVDS IS WWE GONNA RELEASE ON THE SAME OLD FUCKING PEOPLE??? IT’S ALWAYS CENA OR ORTON OR STONE COLD, STONECOLD, STONE COLD & NOW THE ROCK’S BACK IN THE SHUFFLE. JESUS WWE, GIVE A BREAK ALREADY & PUT OUT A DVD THAT’S WORTH THE MONEY & WORTH WATCHING. LIKE ONE ON STING!!!!!!

  36. SRB says:

Investigator Dwayne Johnson and the Mysterious Case of the Burning Candle (Sorry… I had to.)

  37. Horrible tittle and horrible booking for the dvd since they wont include probably the biggest match of his career againts Mr. Fruity pebbles himself and all the macthes that he’s gonna have for the build up to mania. Agree with Evan that the tittle sounds like a Cartoon!

  38. SRB says:

The Epic Adventure Of Dwayne Johnson? For real? It’s like WWE has 3rd graders coming up with their DVD titles. Lately it’s been 1 hit and 9 misses in a row with these DVDs (titles, content and art) The ONLY way I could see this as the title is if there is a documentary. Then I somewhat get it. But if it’s a collection of matches I already have then that is the dumbest title ever. I can’t wait for Triple H’s set next year. “The Caped Crusader HHH – Man of Steel” Features HHH against Buzz Lightyear.

  39. chrono says:

When did this site get so negative? It’s just a name…

  40. Anonymous says:

    better titles:
the curious case of dwayne the rock johnson
dwayne the rock johnsons excellent adventure
theres something about dwayne the rock johnson
the assassination of dwayne the rock johnson by the coward robert ford
    and so forth

  41. WWEBluFan says:

Meh. Not sure about the name, but ultimately it doesn’t matter. This is a Day 1 purchase for me. And “THANK YOU!” WWE for putting this on blu-ray (although almost all the matches won’t be in HD). I picked up the Survivor Series DVD this week and watching the PPV in standard def makes me sad. I think my TV is mad at me now.

  42. Steve says:

This won’t be a good documentary; they will screw it up like they screw up most everything they touch

  43. Vincenzzzzzo says:

I love how WWE “sucks” and “drops the ball” just because they didn’t pick the DVD title some of you people had in your tiny brains. Pathetic even.

  44. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    Shaunblackford

what exactly does a mainstream audience have to do with the outcome and making of this DVD set? Why you think this will be SO different from any other set, I don’t know?

  45. What in the love of F*ck? It sounds like a Cartoon!

  46. Certaintly not a blow away title….

  47. Anonymous says:

They should have called it team bring it: the people’s collection or something like that but Dwayne might have picked the title himself ;D

  48. Ok this is fucking stupid! The mainstream audience can suck my balls! Us DVD collectors have been waiting for a in depth rock set for years. The name of this sets already making me cringe worse then a jim Ross rap! Bad times

  49. JT says:

    Bahahaha! That’s hilariously bad.

  50. Geolink says:

And I thought Stone Cold’s Documentary name was the worst ever…

  51. indyfan says:

    Thats pretty bad

  52. Brett Mix says:

It’s okay as it gives him his current name and shows they’ll be a long story-doc what fans wanted. Fans complain about everything. It’s just a name. Memento is a stupid name as well but it’s an awesome movie.

  53. MrB says:

All it’s missing is the subtitle “The Most Electrifying Man in Twitter-tainment.”

  54. Bob22 says:

Totally agree with you Dan and I’m giving WWE my Com’On Man to WWE, they should’ve called it Team Bring It Rock’s Best Matches or something like that it’s the Rock not Little Jimmy lover Cena.

  55. dan says:

that is the worse name of all the time
