EXCLUSIVE: WWE Triple H DVD & Blu-ray Confirmed for 2012 – Details Released

December 13, 2011 by Daniel Bee

Since last week you’ve been hearing that WWE is going forward with the Triple H DVD that they had planned for 2011, but later postponed for next year. We can now say for definite it’s on the way for 2012 and exclusively reveal some first details.

We can confirm the new release will be a 3-Disc DVD collection, and for the first time WWE will produce a Blu-ray on Triple H’s career, which will be a 2-Disc set.

Like The Rock’s upcoming set, WWE have not yet made the decision on a name for the DVD, so as of now it’s listed on the schedule as simply “Triple H”.

We can also confirm the release date previously revealed at Amazon, of March 13th, 2012 – in between the Home Video releases of Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber.

Triple H continues to build upon his enduring legacy.

The 13-time world champion upped his game in 2011 first taking on Undertaker in a brutal No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania XXVII and then shocking the world when he relieved his father-in-law, Vince McMahon of power to take control of Raw as the new COO. Triple H continued on even with a superstar walkout forcing him out of his position, followed by memorable bouts with CM Punk and former friend Kevin Nash.

Now the Game looks back at his storied career, as this DVD collects more than two dozen of his greatest matches, along with all-new interviews where Triple H reflects on these touchstone moments throughout the years.

Regarding the DVD and Triple H’s popularity, WWE had the following to say,

“The first Triple H 3-Disc superstar DVD in 5 years! His last release, Triple H: The King of Kings (3/25/08) sold over 101k units in 8 weeks. Contains all-new interviews and matches never released on DVD.

Triple H continues to be one of the most popular superstars in WWE history, as observed in a recent survey where Triple H was second only to Stone Cold Steve Austin in levels of popularity (and higher than The Rock!).

Triple H’s mainstream popularity has been growing as a result of starring in two motion pictures in 2011, The Chaperone and Inside Out“.

Whilst we can’t be certain right now, the details we have released above seem to suggest that there will not be a documentary style portion to this release, but rather a compilation of matches with new comments from Triple H to go along with them.

Amazon is already taking pre-orders for the March 13th, 2012 release here.

  12. Nate says:

“Biggest thing I took from this…they really need to bring back the Big Eagle belt.”

They allready gave this gimmick to Cody Rhodes with the IC title, but I always thought it would have been cool and so in line with his character had CM Punk brought back the old school eagle belt (1988-1998) when he first won the title last summer.

  13. Simon says:

No documentary, no purchase. Simple as that.

  14. Daniel Bee says:

Hehe. I chose that pic of HHH since I loved that belt design so much, and I don’t recall every seing that shot with Ozzy. We need a Trips documentary, not matches.

  15. neverAcquiesce says:

Biggest thing I took from this…they really need to bring back the Big Eagle belt.

  16. Steve says:

really lame if there will be no documentary. i have the recent 2 disc set and it was really well done, but i prefer the full 90 minute/2 hour documentary with less matches

  17. Harry Faversham says:

If they aren’t going to do a documentary I think its a bit pointless. Same with The Rock DVD. They’ve already had their biggest moments out on DVD. What you need is their story to be be TOLD. If its obvious to do it wwe usually goes the other way though. Which doesn’t make much sense at times.

  18. SRB says:

There wont be much of a story if there isn’t a documentary.

  19. NickP says:

Anyone else notice that Austin, Rock and HHH dvds always come out around the same time

  20. scsa says:

Well im looking forward 2both the HHH blu-ray and the Rock blu-ray but the HHH set without a Documentary sounds boring 🙁

  21. Anonymous says:

I don’t know what to call it.I would probably go with something like “The Cerebral Assassin:The Story of Triple H.I don’t know how they are going to do this with most of his best matches in the late 90s early 00s and the amount of blood that would be in it.Him,Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair are the people who bleed the most

  22. Anonymous says:

hope to see his triple threat match vs the rock vs brock lesnar from global warning 2002. another lost classic, but if it does’nt make the set hopefully will see it on the rock’s new dvd set.

  23. Anonymous says:

I dont like the match listing u had there. I really hope we get some rare raw and smackdown matches from 1999-2004. I wanna see triple h vs chris benoit 60 minute ironman match from raw 2004. im defintely getting the bluray for the exckusive matches and extras. Looking forward to this and the rock bluray next year.

  24. HHHsucksASS! says:

Wow, already referring to the TLC Nash match as a ‘memorable bout’ IT HASN’T EVEN HAPPENED YET!!!!

That said if one of the discs focuses on 2000-2001 it MIGHT be worth checking out…

  25. X-23 says:

This is what I want to see:

1998 SummerSlam – Ladder Match vs. The Rock
2000 Judgment Day – Iron Man Match vs. The Rock
2000 Fully Loaded – Last Man Standing vs. Chris Jericho
    2003 WrestleMania 19 – vs. Booker T
2004 Bad Blood – Hell in a Cell vs. Shawn Michaels
    2005 Backlash – vs. Batista
    2006 WrestleMania 22 – vs. John Cena
2007 No Mercy – Last Man Standing vs. Randy Orton
2007 Cyber Sunday – Street Fight vs. Umaga
    2008 Backlash – vs. Orton/Cena/JBL
2008 Great American Bash – vs. Edge
2008 SummerSlam – vs. The Great Khali
