WWE WrestleMania 24 DVD Recalled – Removed From Sale Worldwide?

March 10, 2012 by Daniel Bee

As you may have noticed, a couple of months ago the 2008 DVD and Blu-ray editions of WWE WrestleMania XXIV were taken down from Silvervision.co.uk unexpectedly and have not been added back since.

It’s speculated that it’s all to do with a lawsuit first filed in 2010 against World Wrestling Entertainment and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. over the copyright of Mayweather’s entrance music that night.

Whether that’s the issue here or not, Silver Vision clarified on Twitter this week that WrestleMania 24 has been recalled until further notice from WWE. It appears they were given instructions to remove the title from sale but are not aware as to the reason why.

We notice it’s no longer sold at Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk by the retailer themselves, nor at WWEShop, Shock Entertainment in Australia, and other major sources.

@Simon, I don’t they ever really do cheer the celebrity over the wrestler. Most WM crowds are behind the wrestlers and booing the celebs. Watch some of the matches back and I’m sure you’ll see.

  2. Josh says:

Well damn, I’m glad I have it on both DVD and blu ray already haha.

  3. Simon says:

@SRB: I generally agree, but most celebrities’ egos are way out of control – do you really think they’d come in for a one-night shot on the premise they would have to lose in front of the world? McMahon needs these celebs more than they need him, because he craves the mainstream exposure and hopes that they spike the buyrate.

But yes, it does piss me off when celebs go over the wrestlers. I can never fathom why fans cheer the celebrity and boo the wrestler. Wonder if that would happen in MSG or Chicago.

  4. Big Cal says:

Already got the special tin edition of the DVD, but decided to get hold of the bluray now before the original version gets rare and people charge a fortune for it lol. Picked it up on ebay last night for £5. Sorted.

  5. RabidHeat says:

@SRB, I was referring to the comments from Anonymous people regarding celebs more than yours, such as this one:

“Vince listen to this NEVER invite celebs to wrestlemania again NEVER!WWE is wrestling not soap opera”

Having said that, the topic is regarding a DVD that has been deleted presumably due to music rights, not how WWE books it’s top-tier talent on a WrestleMania card. Therefore, when you said “And thats another reason why people from other sports should NEVER be allowed to enter a wrestling ring unless they are fully trained and are under a real contract”, it does sound as if you’re soon citing the deletion of this DVD as a reason, but I realise now your comment was off-topic.

  6. SRB says:

To further elaborate on what I meant, I never meant that celebraties should not be a part of WM. I agree with Vincenzzzzo that celebraties are a part of WM with everything from singing the National Anthem, to musical guests to actual in ring performers. They always have been, but over the years their roles have changed. What I was saying is that I personally wonder why Vince allows his performers to look like fools in the entertainment world. If they wanna have Shaq vs. Show then just dont make Show lose the match because he slipped on some bananna peels and got confused. Big Show looked like a moron regarding the loss to Mayweather especially after getting his nose broken. Mayweather got the better of Show week after week and even at WM. I’m not too sure if Big Show is just the guy to go to if you want someone to look dumb and foolish, but I am just not a fan of the way Vince makes his guys look on the grandest stage of them all. I could care less about entrance music or the DVD itself, I’m speaking along the lines of hyping and promoting guys like Mayweather by beating Show when Mayweather was already the boxing champion and makes much more money than he needs. Again I will use the football reference. I didn’t see CM Punk give Eli Manning the GTS after the NY Giants won the SuperBowl. And why not? Isn’t that the grandest football stage of them all? Maybe a wrestler should go there, who has nothing to do with football and make one of the key football players look like a fool. Yes, I blame Vince. He allowed Snooki to beat Vicki Guerrero, Mayweather to beat Big Show and Rourke to knock out Jericho.

  7. RabidHeat says:

I’m really confused, why do people think it’s Floyd Mayweather’s fault that the DVD got deleted and that WWE should never use a celeb at ‘Mania? Isn’t it Vince McMahon’s fault for signing off on the theme song that was used on the DVD?

    Weird people.

  8. Sticky Fingers says:

@Vincenzzzzzzzo: you’re an idiot to think mayweather really got paid 30 million bucks. that was just hype for his match against the Big Show.

  9. Daniel Bee says:

No idea, bro ;). Maybe because it’s my site. Check your email address. I’d rather you stopped using bold in all of your comments than me having to disable it, or ban you.

I can see all of the comments you ever wrote. You were once normal. Let’s go back.

  10. @Daniel Bee, how do you post pictures in here like that? l know how to type bold but not post pictures.

  11. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    @Jon

I own the one in the tin case.

  12. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    @Anonymous

“Vince listen to this NEVER invite celebs to wrestlemania again NEVER!WWE is wrestling not soap opera”

Apparently, you’ve never watched WrestleMania 1-27. Celebrities are apart of the WrestleMania fabric.

It’s good I already own the DVD version, but I was hoping to buy it on blu-ray. Looks like I won’t be able to do that now unfortunately. Maywether got paid, what, 30 million for his appearance and people are worries about entrance music. Wow.

  13. Anonymous says:

Hollywood celebs are CANCER for the world, and so are people from other sports.ENOUGH is ENOUGH!

  14. Anonymous says:

Thank God i already own Wrestlemania 24,Vince listen to this NEVER invite celebs to wrestlemania again NEVER!WWE is wrestling not soap opera, enough with overrated people like mayweather!

  15. Jon says:

I have a rare DVD edition of this somewhere. Comes in a normal plastic case instead of the usual crappy digipak. I think it was a Blockbuster exclusive or something. I may put it on eBay it if I can find it as I have the Blu-ray.

  16. HHHfan1999 says:

Old news, but it doesn’t matter… can still get it on Amazon from other sellers seeing as that is one I am missing. But, yeah one of the best WrestleMania’s of the past 10 years. 26 and 27 was ok though, better then most.

  17. Brad Attitude says:

this doesnt concern me as i bought it on blu-ray like 3 years ago. it still stands as the last wrestlemania that was actually good to date. wrestlemania 25 and onwards have all sucked.

  18. Anonymous says:

Isn’t this old news? Swear I read about it months ago.

  19. SRB says:

And thats another reason why people from other sports should NEVER be allowed to enter a wrestling ring unless they are fully trained and are under a real contract. Inducting Tyson into the HOF is a joke. Why? The man is a boxer, never was a wrestler. just because he showed up on raw a few times and decked michaels at WM14 he gets a HOF spot? Im sick of seeing movie stars and game show hosts get the better of WWE wrestlers and making them look like fools. why does vince allow it? Perfect example, Mayweather actually hitting show in the face and breaking his nose and then show having to job to mayweather, akebono and we all heard the shaq rumor. do we see wrestlers stepping onto the football field and slamming lead quarterbacks into the goal post? nope. they wouldnt allow it. does dana white allow brock lesnar to come to wwe and then get beaten up by one of our guys then return to ufc like an idiot? nope, thats because dana white does smart business, vince should know better

  20. This WrestleMania was horrible. l don’t have it on DVD and l’m glad it’s being taken down. Thank you whoever filed that lawsuit.

  21. James says:

    I’m glad i got it 😀

  22. Geolink says:

Thank god I bought the Blu-ray edition like 2-3 months ago from eBay LOL

  23. Dave says:

Bought the DVD Tin edition and Blu-ray when they came out…i’m sure WWE will re-release it with dubbed music.

  24. William says:

Good thing I just picked this one up 2 weeks ago up til then it was the only Wm I was missing

  25. Anonymous says:

Why don’t they just dub over music and re-release I know it won’t be as valuable as original but WM 27 dubbed over both hhh & takers music

  26. Anonymous says:

Got it so its not an issue

  27. Jeffrey Evans says:

Walmart.com has all 3 editions pretty cheap in stock as well

  28. Daniel Bee says:

Slow news day Simon ;), though I don’t think it’s widely known WrestleMania 24 was officially taken off shelves. I thought it was just Silver Vision’s site until this week.

@Anonymous They are sold by third party sellers, and not Amazon themselves.

  29. Simon says:

This has been the case for about a year now. Nothing to see here folks…

  30. Harry Faversham says:

They should really do a fifth volume of the Wrestlemania Anthology with Wrestlemania 22 onwards. I can see them doing a volume 5 and 6 in a 30th anniversary type way after Wreslemania 30. Only problem with it is it will be massive and expensive and out of date in a year. But that would be a serious piece of business.

  31. Anonymous says:

    I found a few listings on amazon.ca

  32. Charlie1185 says:

wasnt this wwe’s first bluray? might be worth checking fye for a sealed one to hang onto.

  33. ALK says:

In CeX, I have seen the Blu Ray go for £6, so might wanna pick a copy up before it becomes rare.

Mind you, the Tinned DVD edition might go up vastly at some point… o_o

  34. Paul says:

It will prob be back again for sale by wwe. Just incase though i just picked up the blu-ray on amazon. So i now have the dvd and blu ray versions.

  35. APD says:

Makes sense, Mayweathers music was dubbed over when the match appeared on the Big Show DVD.

  36. Bad Booking says:

I’m guessing that DVD/Blu-ray will be worth huge $$$ one day!
