We’re now just 2 WEEKS away from hearing “The True Story of Royal Rumble”.
WWE will release the Rumble-themed DVD to the United Kingdom on December 5th and one day later to the United States on December 6th. The complete compilation will pack in a documentary (and “deleted” scenes), a handful of full-length Royal Rumble matches, a collection of the best singles matches hosted by the event, and even some non-PPV Rumbles too!
It’s time for an exclusive sneak peek at the 1 hour and 5 minute main feature, and to take a look at Pat Patterson’s involvement. The WWE Hall of Famer, credited as the inventor of the Royal Rumble, shows up throughout the documentary in backstage moments filmed at this year’s event.
Hit play below to watch the first couple of minutes of “The True Story of Royal Rumble” for free, then be sure to click here to Amazon.com to get your pre-order locked in for next month.
As we gave a heads up on yesterday, the full “OMG! The Top 50 Incidents in ECW History” DVD (that didn’t make it to DVD) has just been made available on the WWE Network.
Despite this being a 2016 WWE DVD/Blu-ray release that was ultimately cancelled, the 2 hour and 20 minute countdown feature has been added to the Network’s “Beyond the Ring” section which, until now, was reserved for content featured on past Home Video titles.
Today’s the day we give out the first prizes in the WDN Christmas Giveaway.
Every week until Xmas you have the chance to win WWE DVDs here at WrestlingDVDNetwork.com, starting with 2 copies of “Ring in the Holiday”. There’s just a few hours left to sign up to our free email list (if you haven’t already) and win yourself some freebies TODAY!
BLACK FRIDAY: We’re counting down to Black Friday and anticipating WWE DVD deals it might bring! The first plans we’ve heard are for the UK site WWEDVD.co.uk, which will be offering…
- 30% off when buying 3 or more WWE DVD & Blu-ray titles
- Free “Christmas Collection” DVD with selected orders
- Free Dean Ambrose hand-signed photo with selected orders
Kayfabe Commentaries is about to continue the Timeline WCW DVD series!
“Timeline: The History of WCW – 1987” will feature original Four Horseman Tully Blanchard. It’s coming December 6th, also available to stream instantly On Demand or keep as a download.
Finishing where we began with “The True Story of Royal Rumble”, it can be confirmed that this new title will be DVD-only in Australia, as you can see here on Madman.com.au.
Recent developments saw several new 3-disc WWE DVD sets released to Australia and New Zealand without Blu-ray counterparts. The licensee still plans to release WWE Blu-rays but only for titles such as WrestleMania and select documentaries that have sufficient demand for Blu-ray.
The US and UK Blu-ray editions remain unaffected and will be put out as normal.
Grab your WWE “The True Story of ROYAL RUMBLE” DVD or Blu-ray…
– UK/Europe: December 5th. Pre-order the new DVD or Blu-ray now here on Amazon.co.uk.
– USA: December 6th. Pre-order the new DVD or Blu-ray soon here on Amazon.com.
– Australia: January 11th. Pre-order your copy of the DVD over at Madman.com.au.
I cannot wait for this! I rarely buy blu-ray but this one is a must have!
As an Australian Wrestling VHS/DVD/Blu Ray collector, I’m really upset that the WWE’s partnership with Shock (former distributor) ended, we were able to get every documentary/superstar set on Blu Ray, as did the USA and UK, however, since madman have taken over earlier this year.
-New release WWE blu rays jumped in price to $39.95 each, which is $10 more expensive (shipping extra) than previous Shock releases
-Blu rays have now been cancelled and will only be released on DVD now (The first Blu Ray not available in Australia is History Of The Hardcore Championship and everything since then)
Unfortunately I already buy all of my WWE PPV’s on Blu Ray from the UK (Fremantle) as I want a Blu Ray wherever possible. (These are fairly priced new from Fremantle, or if you wait a few months after release, they’re cheap on ebay.)
Now with our current exchange rate, it seems as though I will have to pay an extra $5 to $10 for the USA releases of the Documentaries on Blu Ray too, as quality is important to me
I hope madman haven’t bought the license, just to bury WWE release in Australia.
Please Madman, If you ever read this, please reconsider releasing Blu Rays once again (Including the missed releases), there is already demand over here, if the price is right.
It’s 2016, a blu ray, should not be too much to ask
It was filmed in HD, I would like a HD copy to add to my physical collection.
As a dedicated collector, I will buy them from wherever I need to, including overseas, it just means that unfortunately I will no longer be able to watch new releases on the day they come out.
BRING THE AUSSIE BLU RAYS BACK MADMAN!!!!!!!!!
RIP WWE Blu Ray in Australia 2009- 2016
Is Jesse Ventura edited from the 1988 Royal Rumble match?
Why would he be edited?
Ventura took Vince to court regarding royalties payment when WWE release the stuff where Jessie appears.
Wheather it was a settlement or if Jessie actually won, I can not remember, but Vince has to pay Jessie when ever they use him on releases.
On “The History of WWE – 50 years..” blu-ray the Brother Neo-Jessies commentary is deleted from the RR match 1988. 😉 So, it is pretty safe to say, that it will also be deleted on the Story of my favorite PPV concept. But..we’ll see.. 🙂
I see, thanks for the info.
I will wait for WWE to add this documentary to the network. I have almost all the matches in my collection already.
It’s not the “true story” if they deliberately not talk about the second man in history to win the Rumble who started out as the number 1 entrant and went on to beat everyone else in it an hour later.
Benoit is inconsequential to the story of the Royal Rumble. He won 1 Rumble out of 30. He didn’t set any records, wasn’t the first to do anything. There probably isn’t a section on Sheamus either, are you upset about that too?
Well he did something no one else has since done other than Shawn Michaels has so it’s kinda a big deal.
True! & Benoit’s private life is separate. If they can show him on other recent sets, then why not add another great Rumble match where he went in as No1 & came out as the winner?!
I just hope that when we see the Booker T interview with Michaels, we’ll hear about the 2nd No1 entrant winner as well as HBK!
It’s not that big of a deal. He wasn’t the first, Shawn was. No one cares about the second person who does anything
Doesn’t matter, he still accomplished something only one other man had done in its history. Imagine WWE ignoring Cena’s Rumble victory as the second man to win as the #30 entrant, with no mention of it whatsoever. I bet you’ll complain.
Um, WWE barely even mentions the 1st guy to win at #30 so your argument is invalid. The only reason we still see that Cena win is because of the surprise factor. Like I said, no one cares about the 2nd of anything. Hey, remember the 2nd intercontinental champion? Nope, didn’t think you did. How about the 2nd WWE champion? Nope, didn’t think so either. But I bet you can name me the 1st. Case closed
Anyone can win the intercontinental and WWE championship. Winning the Rumble at #1 entrant is not an easy accomplishment. So your examples are invalid
Dang i hope i get lucky and win something
Can’t wait to watch the documentary on the True Story of Royal Rumble Blu-Ray!
Me too! Before I was a little annoyed w/the fact that they didn’t add other Rumble matches in such as 1990 or 1991 – (with some great legendary superstars in nor 92-WWF Title win), though after watching the sneak peek vid, I realised that they will talk about the 92 Ric Flair win, however it should have been in this set as it was a Rumble match for the WWF/E Championship!
The 1992 Royal Rumble match is already on The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection and Bobby Heenan DVD sets.
True, but it is one of the greatest Rumble matches too.. not to mention, for a vacant WWF Championship belt! Even a blu-ray extra would have been a big WOW for this match!
